Before I start I would like to say that this is only my second time ever having sardines. The first time I was a young boy and have almost no recollection but I know I did not like them. They were chicken of the sea and my father brought them as a snack on a trip to the lake.
Now that I’ve gotten into tinned fish, I picked these up, knowing they are widely enjoyed. I cracked the tin and was immediately met with a wonderful fishy aroma. Pretty strong. I tried a piece on its own and it was quite good but I ended up eating them with the crackers and toppings shown. The fish had a nice mouth feel and was pretty darn good but definitely has not been my favorite tin. I may simply not like sardines as much as the rest of the reviews that I’ve seen on these because it didn’t blow my socks off but like I said, I’m comparing this to pretty much nothing. I did enjoy them and am excited for the spiced tin that I have but overall I would give these a 6.5/tin on my personal scale. Let me know some other ways to enjoy these please!
These oysters have a very odd taste to them, bitter and bland but still that same oyster taste I suppose. The “garlic butter” is extremely fake tasting and as I was washing the tin out before throwing it away I noticed a very “chemically” scent. Probably the worst tasting butter I’ve ever had to be honest and basically no garlic taste.
I grew up eating smoked oysters and I’ve never had a bad experience until now. I say that but I did eat the whole tin, just had to use lots of Tabasco and ate them on steak w/ chimichurri flavored chips to enjoy them.
I honestly love the Kroger smoked oysters. They have been my favorite so far but I’ve only had a handful of smoked oyster tins.
Also the cat did not want anything to do with these napoleon oysters and he is usually all about any tin I open.
Have any of you fine people had these and enjoyed them?
This stuff was amazing. I’m new to tinned seafoods and this is the fanciest I’ve tried so far but damn it was so good! The fish on its own was very moist, salty, and pretty damn smoky. Very pleasant. Hard to justify buying regularly due to the $9.99 price point at my local Kroger store but I will be buying it again from time to time. I paired it with some tzatziki on toast then topped it with some pickled red onions and it was fantastic. Give me some recommendations for other tinned trout if you don’t mind, this stuff was great and has peaked my interest!
I’m very new to tinned fish but it has peaked my interest. Today I found a store near me that had a bigger variety than anything else in town so I had to splurge! I’ve never had any of these so I am super excited to try everything here.
These aren’t scallops right? I’m guessing someone switched the can out of another package lol
