Finally starting restoration

I bought my 1966 in 2000 and used it as a daily driver till I had a few close calls stopping that it wouldn’t stop with the four wheel drums. Parked it to do a v8 / five speed / 9 inch rear / front disk suspension swap. I bought a rust buck coupe with all those parts that I stripped off and stored for the conversion. That was 20 years ago.

So what does DO do well?

I’m in no way a power user. It works well for me but I do almost nothing with it except add a daily entry with a few photos and then a few paragraphs of text. No issues. Besides the yearly cost, my only concern is that it will be killed and I’ll need to migrate all my data. So besides the cost, for my situation, am I missing something? Should I be worried or pissed?

Grilled fish street tacos

Hello - looking for good grilled fish tacos. Maybe battered but grilled is preferred. I usually go to foods trucks and I’ve been hitting a few already but none have grilled fish.

Getting ready for the mods

Dug out all my old iPods (that I’ve had since new) to take a crack at upgrading them. I stopped using them years ago because of bad hard drives. I switched over to using my phone and local music up until a year or so ago and will now move back because the cost of streaming isn’t worth it. And I’ve already got about a TB of music.

All three are slim backs. From the left there is a Classic 7th gen 160gb (and I scratched the front window a bit opening it), 4th gen 20gb which seems like a lame duck in terms of upgrades and then a 5th gen 30gb. Does that seem correct?

I’m going to start with the 7th gen and buy the knock off dual flash adapter and a thin battery. I’m not worried about stuffing a big battery in there. It looks like the battery will need to be short and thin? Which SD cards are people using? I’ll stick with the stock OS I think.

If this goes well I’ll move on to the 5th gen and get a thick back and bigger battery and same flash adapter.

Thoughts?

BrompNOT Use Case

So I’m a casual biker here in Europe, mostly Spain and Italy, and find it difficult to drag my full size bike around on the train. Local trains / busses are easy but when I travel between countries by train or sometimes plane, a full size bike isn’t worth the trouble to pack and check. I typically just go somewhere new and rent a bike for a few days.

I generally ride slowly and only for a few hours, mostly as a faster way to see a small town that I’m visiting and I just generally enjoy it. A good example is I’ve been in southern Italy for a few months now starting in Rome and worked my way to Calabria over the weeks staying for a week or so in a town and then moving on via local train.

So my question is how hard is it to fly with a folding bike? Or take a folding bike on a long distance train (Rome to Paris or Rome to London for example). Anything I should keep in mind? I’m looking at a 20 wheel bike, at least 5 speeds and would prefer disk brakes

Why no ceiling fans in Italy

Been traveling around Italy for 3 years now, stayed in about 20 various rentals and have yet to see a ceiling fan. Have I just been unlucky or are they not a thing here? Been in the south for a year now so Sicily, Calabria, Basilicata, Puglia, Molise… but before that far north and then central

Alternative Spots in Lecce

Im in Lecce for a month to see if it a place I could live. Im not worried about the language as I’ve been traveling in Italy for three years and am about b1 level and getting better every day. I’m also retired.

My main concern is finding places that have real character and depth and in the short time I’ve been here it seems like Lecce might but a great spot but I haven’t found the places that I’m looking for yet. I love that there are so many cultures here, different types of food but haven’t found good live music or bars yet. Suggestions?

Found a stash of bikes

I’m in a small town in Italy and came across a guy with a warehouse of vintage Italian motorcycles. I can figure out most of them but thought this group might like to see some. Sorry for the terrible photos but the place was packed
