Chiari is genetic. Wtf?

Hi group. Can someone explain this.

I have chiari. Male 35years old. I was decompressed 11 years ago.

My brother has just been diagnosed with it and to my suprise my 3 other cousins have also been diagnosed with chiari

Someone mentioned to me that its not only chiari thats likely running through your family it actually could be EDS. Which is causing the chiari.

Does this sound right?

Pepcid ruined my life.

Pepcid (famotidine) ruined my life.

I need to get this off my chest because famotidine completely destroyed my life, and I know people will instantly jump to “it’s just anxiety” or “it’s in your head,” but I had NEVER suffered from an anxiety disorder, panic disorder, or anything remotely like this before taking the medication.

I took famotidine for 30 days as per doctors recommendation... on day 5 of taking it something changed in my nervous system. The panic attacks that started directly after taking it were beyond horrific. I’m not talking about feeling “a bit anxious.” I’m talking sheer terror, adrenaline surges, inner restlessness, pacing, inability to sit still, feeling like I was crawling out of my own skin. It turned into full-blown akathisia that lasted for 2 years straight. Seen every doctor under the sun about this with zero answers.

It has now been 4 years since I took the drug and I have still never returned to normal.

To this day I still get bouts of akathisia that come and go, and around 70% of the time I have this constant rocking/swaying sensation like I’m on a boat. It feels neurological. Like my brain and balance system were permanently altered. My mcas went WILD after pepcie. I litterally became reactive to everything. Some days it’s milder, some days it flares badly again for no obvious reason.

Before this medication:

\- I had a normal life

\- I worked full time

\- I had friendships and a social life

\- I was functional

After this medication:

\- I lost my job

\- I lost many friendships

\- I became terrified of medications

\- I developed extreme PTSD surrounding pharmaceuticals and doctors

I have not tried any other psychiatric medications whatsoever because the experience traumatized me so badly. The idea of taking another medication genuinely terrifies me now.

What frustrates me most is how quickly people dismiss this stuff because famotidine is considered “safe.” But when you actually start digging through Reddit, Drugs.com reviews, forums, and other online discussions, there is a TREASURE TROVE of people describing bizarre neuropsychiatric reactions from famotidine (pepcid).

I honestly thought I was alone until I started reading other people’s stories online. There are far more reports than people realize.

I know some people take famotidine with zero issues, and that’s great. But for some of us, it seems to trigger something catastrophic neurologically. I would give anything to go back to the person I was before taking it.

Has anyone else experienced long-term nervous system issues, rocking/swaying, or akathisia after famotidine or other acid reflux medications? I genuinely want to know I’m not alone.

This drug needs urgent investigation into its side effects.

Hi group. Just wondering does this sound familar to any of you?

When i smell a "scent" like perfume / diesal fumes / gas

Worst offenders are deoderants and womens perfumes

About 5min after exposure i get sudden fatigue. Almost like a extreme sleepy type response. But to a degree its near unbearable fatigue.... its truley horrible. I just want to lay down ans sleep and rest.

Drives me insane.

Ive tried greenhealer pastes and various other pastes for "greasy heel" and sudocrem all with zero luck. It just wont go away. Ive tried expensive manuka honey as well

Nothing works. Spent hundreds of dollars on this so far and have gotten nowhere.

How quickly does patches work.

How quickly does nicotine patches work? How quickly do they kick in... its what I struggle with most. I feel sometimes they take ages to start working after putting one on in the morning.
