Meet up!

Hi all.

I want to apologise to anyone that’s tried to get in touch with me regarding a meet up I tried to organise a few months ago.

I have had surgery and been recovering the last few months so I have not been able to go out and I have not been active on here.

If people still want to arrange something local then put ideas in the chat and dates etc!

Hope to see you soon!

Dad with cirrhosis

Hi all.

I understand my dad has cirrhosis. Complications started when he was having chemo for an unrelated cancer where he was having some internal bleeding back in 2019. They couldn’t work out where it was coming from but 3 years later in 2022 he had his varicies banded. I assume that is because of some bleeding.

Anyway, fast forward to April 2026. For a long time they had been monitoring him as his liver shape and blood tests never seemed to match up. After many routines scans they obviously thought it was odd that he has some nodules on his liver but near perfect liver function. They decided to call him in and basically scared the poor chap saying that his liver looked like cancer and he was sent for a PET scan.
This scan came back absolutely fine, while my dad’s life is flashing before his eyes lol.

He went back in and was told that it wasn’t exactly as bad as they thought. They asked to see the scans but they did not have them. A couple of weeks later they phone him to say, good news the nodules are not likely to be of any harm. They even told him he didn’t have to carry on with his routine checks if he didn’t want too……
While this is nice news, why do they alert you of something with no real evidence to show. I understand that liver disease can look confusing on scans but the poor guy thought he had 3 months to live.

Anyway, I hope no one else has had experience like this.

Obviously very grateful he’s on a good level with this. Just very frustrating for all involved!

He is carrying on with 6 monthly checks as we have made sure he does this!

Medication

Hello all.

Long term OCD struggler here. 😂

Time has come again to go back on medication. I have a few stressful things going on and they have triggered my OCD to become very intrusive in my life again.

After chatting with my GP yesterday there are 2 options that have been suggested.

I have tried different medications before and have had side effects that I have not been able to tolerate.

Option 1 is Escitalopram

Option 2 is Clomipramine

What are your experiences with these medications?

I do understand each and everyone is different and have different side effects and people tolerate these drugs differently.

TIA

Advice

Hi all.

I have just had coccyx removal surgery just short of 3 weeks ago. I unfortunately came on my period not long after and this one has been awful.
The diarrhoea has been the worst I’ve ever had.
Does anyone know if this is due to the unsettle pelvic floor that has been bothered?

I have never had such an awful experience lool!

I am also on the implant so I never know when they come and they last for days on end. 😭

Any one else…

I have just had lower spinal surgery (coccyx removal to be precise) just over 2 weeks ago.

This must have been the worst period I have ever had. Not for the bleeding, I have an nexplanon implant so my bleeding isn’t that bad these days but everything else, holy hell.

I am not sure if the inflammation from my surgery has mixed in from the inflammation from my period but everything is twice as bad I’ve even started with the most awful diarrhoea. I do suffer from that a bit but not at this extent. 😭

Just wondered if anyone else has had something similar in experience, not necessarily the surgery I have had but any kind of surgery around that area?

Is this a thrip?

Hello.

I have just got back from a few days away and I’ve been infested with these little black pests .

I noticed them when I have hung my washing out but never had them in my home.

Can any one identify this?

Gets enough water etc.

Heavy bleeding

Hi all.

I’ve had nexplanon since 2024 and mainly spotting with some harsh cramps and the odd bit of bleeding but the last 2 periods I have had the bleeding has been gushy.

I know not everyone has the same experience or symptoms but I wondered if this has happened to anyone else?

It’s like the periods I use to get pre implant 🤣

So random that it’s happening 2 years in.

Doctors are stumped

Hello.

Me again 😂

My father has become quite a confusion for the doctors.

He has most definitely got liver disease and lots of scaring on his liver. It’s a very strange shape but his bloods never seem to indicate any sort of function issue and his cancer markers are low/normal. The doctors have done many a scan and can never call out worst case scenario. I believe they are looking for cancer but the ultrasounds and MRI didn’t say anything conclusive and yesterday went for a PET scan. we shall await the results.

My question is, is there anyone here who has had something similar happen to them?

I can only assume if the PET scan comes back inconclusive he’ll require a biopsy.

TIA.

PET Scans

Hi. All.

Is there any one here who has had a pet scan to get a final diagnosis.

I am interested to understand what the meaning of this scan is if the MRI was inconclusive?

Just some advice

Hello.

My father has had a couple of bouts of cancer over the years, all well recovered from but I think it’s all happening again.

He has cirrhosis of the liver and he was sent for an unscheduled MRI scan. His bloods however don’t really highlight anything majorly wrong and now needs a PET scan for confirmation.

For anyone with liver cancer or had a scare of liver cancer is this something they do routinely just to make sure?

My father is 72.

Cirrhosis advice

Hello.

My father has had cirrhosis for what I believe is for sometime.

He’s on 6 monthly checks and recently has had mri which showed up some blurry marks which now require further testing.

His bloods seem to be fine but I guess they want to double check incase it has turned to cancer.

Is this something that is normal for folks with cirrhosis and further testing. The blood results seem promising I suppose?

Hello.

I hope you are all well.

My father had a bowel resection back in 2018 after being diagnosed with appendix cancer. The tumour had spread onto his peritoneal lining also so they took quite a bit of his bowel large and small bowel away. They took a third of his large bowel and quite a bit of small bowel but managed to escape a colostomy bag.

My question to anyone who has had a similar operation or is in a similar situation how are they doing?

Hes understandably lost some weight, i understand that is quite normal over the years. Hes not had any reoccurrence and has been discharged but I wondered if there was anything we can recommend to help keep his weight up.

He gets frequent blood tests for other things and is ok. He is in his 70’s now.

He is careful with alcohol intake now and this has dropped significantly and is obsessed with keeping fit.

Perhaps it’s just my over thinking mind but wondered other peoples experiences with this condition.

He has had a few instances where he’s had bowel blockages from eating specific foods and not drinking enough water but he understands his triggers now.
