I just finished the last season of Hacks, and I can’t remember whether this song was used in the show or whether the casino scenes brought it to mind for me. Having looked extensively through the soundtrack for the final season, I am not finding what I’m looking for. The song feels like it belongs over a casino montage. It’s grand and sweeping, and has a repeated vocal hook by a group of singers that goes oooooooooooooooh ba dee ahhhhhh ba doe! (or similar). No single instrument or vocalist is highlighted - it’s really a big unified vibe. It’s sort of in the same universe as Soul Bossa Nova by Quincy Jones, but without the cheekiness or high woodwinds/flutes. It’s not any of the songs on that album either. It also has Lalo Schifrin vibes, but not quite as dark as some of his stuff - there’s no intrigue or melancholy to this song. It’s driving and confident and sounds like someone’s about to own a situation and have some fun doing it. It’s not loungey at all - not like Burt Bacharach or Herb Alpert. It’s not Mas Que Nada. It’s driving me nuts. Thanks in advance!

As I was scrolling some posts here, I was reminded of Cruddy by Lynda Barry. It was my introduction to weird girl lit and I wondered if anyone else had anything to say about it. I read it many years ago - I am 48, and I was a very different person when I read it at 22ish
