Hudson... what is the deal?

So how are there two Hudson's that seem to have no overlapping interests or temperaments?

There's the one who pounded Ethan around like he was a punching bag. And a badly behaved one at that and bugged the room to bloodhound the location of baby Phoebe.

And then there's this one. Who really really wants Joss to be the CEO of Jax's company? And seems to have literally no interest in Phoebe.

Twins? Dual personality disorder?

I just don't get it.

Nina and Brennan--I like

So I haven't liked Nina in any couple for a really long time. And I was only so so on Brennan and Carly. These two are both so morally bent in so many ways with ironclad loyalty in other ways I find them quite interesting together. And I love that Brennan seems to have/ has gotten over Carly.

Unlike the Carly brand in relationship, this Nina Brennan thing is honest. And Brennan is very appealing in the way he reacts to Nina.

Some love to the New Rebar

So I'm just a visitor in Victoria, but I felt I had to come out and advocate for the New Rebar. One of the mornings of our visit in Victoria we tried to go to the Blue Fox and the lineup was out the door and around, so we gave up on it and went to the New Rebar, and there was virtually no one in it. And this was also the case during our second visit: no one in the restaurant.

And I think that the problem for the New Rebar it's not in its food or its decor or its staff, but rather it has gotten the worst kind of framing from Google. Google suggests it is vegan (the staff said they are trying to work on this with Google, but apparently with no current success), but in reality it has a limited number of vegan dishes. It's actually a perfect mix for us in terms of its offerings. But vegans that go are likely disappointed, and those that would like it as we do do not go here.

So this is my love for the New Rebar. Go there! The food is great--over two visits we tried the whole wheat blueberry pancakes, the three sisters enchilada, the yam and pita quesadilla and the green eggs and hash, and enjoyed everything. The staff are also very nice.

So if you're in line at the Blue Fox, consider walking over to the New Rebar instead. (No diss intended to the Blue Fox since I have no idea what it's like since we never got around to going there.)

NDP and Ontario Health Coalition challenge LifeLabs’ cross-border testing

From the article:
Ontario NDP MPPs including Nickel Belt’s France Gélinas are demanding answers from the provincial government, claiming LifeLabs plans to send a portion of Ontario patient lab samples across the border to facilities in the United States....A press release from the NDP states LifeLabs, “a long-standing private, for-profit community lab provider in Ontario,” was acquired by an American company in 2024. According to the NDP, the acquisition has already led to service cuts within the province, including the closure of medical lab testing facilities in Sudbury and Northwestern Ontario.

https://www.sudbury.com/local-news/ndp-and-ontario-health-coalition-challenge-lifelabs-cross-border-testing-12450765

So the reason that I included this story under this Reddit thread: should we avoid/boycott LifeLabs (choose a different lab when we need blood taken, for example) and instead choose other labs that are staffed with only Canadians AND are owned by Canadians--since apparently LifeLabs is now owned by Americans?

ISO recommendations for vegetarian-friendly restaurants, and good desserts

I will be in Vancouver for about 4 days in July. I am looking for recommendations on establishments with very good:

**strong vegetarian (not necessarily vegan) options for dinner where the menu is not reliant on rice; for example Chinese restaurants are usually fine but some Asian restaurants have rice included in virtually every dish); EDIT: bonus points for whole-grain pizza or other whole grains done tasty and preferably without vegan cheese

**desserts (preferably non-Asian); (EDIT: I usually prefer non-vegan but vegetarian desserts)

**brunch with strong vegetarian options not fully reliant on eggs

One restaurant I've always enjoyed is The Burrow for vegetarian Mexican and I have in the past really enjoyed vegetarian dim sum at a place called Han's.. or Hon's I think it was (?) but I can't seem to find that via Google.

Psychic abilities? (Season eight spoilers)

I find it very strange that they have done this twice now whereby Nolan has a dream to start the episode of something that has not happened yet. He never remembers or doesn't seem to that he had a foretelling dream but we can see he did.

Is he the psychic one and not Celena?

It's a clever hook to start the show, but it also irritates me because this show is not supposed to encompass supernatural elements.

Recommendations requested for vegetarian-strong restaurants & good desserts

I will be in Parksville in mid July. I'm looking for dine-in restaurants with strong vegetarian options not necessarily vegan or all vegetarian. Less rice-heavy menus and bonus points for (the unicorn of restaurant menus) whole grain pizza or other whole grain options.

Also looking for recommendations for tasty desserts, (whole grain not needed here!).

I see from other posts that Realm seems to have a lot of vegetarian options.

Restaurant recommendations with strong vegetarian options and best dessert places

I have 4 days coming up in Victoria in a couple weeks. So it's really a double request since I don't expect there will necessarily be restaurants with really great vegetarian options that also have great desserts, but if there is, bonus.

I like to avoid places which are rice-heavy or have predominantly fried foods. For example, I avoid places where the only vegetable dishes you can get are with rice or rice noodles.... some fried food is fine!

Cassius, why is he basically good?

I find it really interesting that Cassius was apparently raised by Faison but we have heard nothing about what that was like. And somehow the evil didn't rub off. It's like the nature/nurture debate--with nature --is proved y Cassius and Nathan. Nathan was purely good, complete Boy Scout, so ethical and decent. Cassius was raised to be evil, but he's having a hard time with it, leaning more naturally towards decency. So he has some rough edges (which incidentally makes him endearing)... He hasn't really done one thing that is absolutely awful and he has repeatedly instinctively acted against the evil guys he is in league with to help innocents.

Probably the worst thing he's done is not fully realize how much he's going to cause heartbreak for the people that believed he's Nathan. Of course Leisel is making that look like a silly assumption since she's bounced back quickly with "this is my son so he's the best thing ever". At this point the worst of that betrayal is with James..

I'm very curious to hear more background about how Cassius was raised and his life experiences. Because it seems like he didn't have any until he became Nathan.

If your MP isn't one of the ones that wrote to Mark Carney about "environmental back slide" then write to your MP or call and ask them to do so

Unfortunately, it's hard to tell which 14 MP's actually wrote to Mark Carney. But it doesn't hurt to push your MP to be one of them... Assuming your MP is isn't conservative and then I guess it's easier to bark at the moon.

ISO cream-based desserts (not including those with coconut)

In short, I'm looking for chocolate cream pie, pot de crème, white chocolate mousse, or any other dessert that has good tasting whipped cream, either as a layer or as a forward tasting ingredient of the mixture. This somewhat overlaps with a previous question I asked about Keylime pie, so I think that one has been thoroughly answered. I find it's often very difficult to get good tasting cream flavour in such. A lot of them may have cream cheese or egg whites and I don't like these flavours. And the most common one out there seems to be coconut cream pie, but I do not like the flavour of coconut.

In passing, I have noted that the Summerhill market has some good mousse.

ISO reasonably priced suits for older teenage boys suitable for prom or interview

Are there particular places that are better for this kind of product? Have tried Tom's Place, RW&Co, Zara, Indochino, Harry Rosen... Other ideas? (Bonus for Canadian made but I think that's rather difficult to find without getting into the thousands of dollars.)

Also, what is a reasonable price to pay for a suit?
