IIIT Bhopal Truth Nuke 2026
Today I wrote my last exam for 1st year and now that I'm free I'm posting this review and I'll try to cover all the points which might concern a student opting for this college in 2026...
PROS✅:
i.)The curriculumis top notch and matches industry standards.
From the 1st year itself there's a push towards competitive programming and placement oriented training.
In even semesters there is a Pre-placement training subject in the course which focuses on improving soft skills etc.
ii.)College and hostels both are in the city itself not stranded in a remote place ,everything is within walking distance as hostels are very close to Indrapuri market.
iii.) If you are a coding enthusiast then this place is great for you because the coding culture here is very good and competitive with many competitive programming events happening regularly.
iv.) Technical Clubs like Codâme ,IEEE ,SPARK are very active and conduct events regularly.
v.) Non-technical clubs like Aarzoo, Arunoday, Inspire, E-Cell also conduct very interesting events once in a while.. although not regularly.
vi.) Fests are mid but NIIMACK 26 was decent as compared to last year .Artist Night , Diwali /Navratri DJ night were also decent tbh.
You can also attend MANIT fests and yea MAFFICK was too good✨
I strongly believe NIIMACK will be better this year as student strength and sponsors are increasing every year so we can expect something good this year .
vii.) Placements (let's cover this later )
viii.) Access to MANIT facilities: I saw people have a lot of misconceptions on discrimination in MANIT on the basis of facilities. We can use the MANIT library as much as MANIT students use it, same for the labs(if you have permissions from the professor) but yea there's no such thing as discrimination between two colleges here.
(Sports Complex can also be accessed but it is not recommended as ragging in MANIT iykyk)
ix.) Seniors are supportive and really helpful, you just need to find some good seniors which don't beg for respect and then you are good to go.
x.) While some professors can be di\*kheads, in our batch 4 of 5 professors in both the semesters were very lenient and considerate, and this was common in almost every branch. It's always the professor who teaches shit and expects us to look at the board while he's lecturing; the other 4 teach decent if you pay attention and even if they don't, they allow students to do other things on phone/laptop without disturbing the class.
Our one prof literally sent topics to study just for passing the exam even if you didn't study shit till the day before end sems..such a 🐐.
xi.) College has been progressing a lot since the last 1.5 years and aggressively hiring permanent faculties and increasing student intake(bad thing, but shows that they have faith in themselves lol).
xii.)The dispute between IIIT and BMC on land allotment has finally come to an end and this year the construction shall commence but the campus plan is pretty mind blowing a hybrid of Zurich and Nalanda as they say, so don't expect it to be ready before 2030.
They got a lot of funding this year 650cr campus budget and 100 crs in AI Healthcare research.
xiii.) MP Students eligible for MMVY Scholarship get full fee waiver (infinite ROI glitch) similar for NSP eligible students...
CONS❌:
i.) Starting from where the PROS ended: CAMPUS!!!
Bro the first month after you join will be a painful period in which most of the Partial Drop ideas are born lmao...
A major reason for that is not having your own campus.
You travel to MANIT everyday to attend college and look at MANIT campus(not that good but better than all IIITs tbh) then you sit in the bus and go back to your hostel which is 8 kms (kill my self🥀) away from MANIT so class bunk karke Uber karna padta hai lol or MANIT ke junglee campus me ghumo(very fun tho).
It's not bad but you compare your facilities to MANIT students' facilities everyday till you realise "ab l*nd kuch kar skte hai iske baare me" .
You can roam around the entire MANIT campus all day but in the end you'll have to go back to your hostel🥀
ii.) You'll get irritated by the amount of people still using school level humour, although it's a common phenomenon in every college but still yaar ab to chhod do ye sax sux wale jokes🥀💔.
iii.)This college has recognition issues in Bhopal
Like it makes sense campus nhi hoga to autowala to MANIT hi chhodega na he won't read IIIT Bhopal on the board..
iv.) Mess food: I like spicy food and my staple cuisine consists of spicy food but here in our mess after 1 month of eating mess food every gravy tastes the same for some reason and yea not as spicy as I prefer. I'd rate mess food 5/10
Also ,there were incidents when people found insects in their food and after their complaints the vendor was changed.
But to be very honest Breakfast and Evening snacks were good especially breakfast was very good.
v.) Bus issues: pehle the ab nhi hai so juniors ko bhi nhi hoge koi issues
(skipped)
vi.) Sir Mam culture : 2 hafte bohot gussa ayega fir sab insignificant lagega so this is not a CON but included it so that you don't come uninformed... But it's significantly less than whatever happens in MANIT ..(skipped not a CON)
vii.) You will find some reta*ds who don't have any fu\*king civic sense like bus me aise chadhenge like it's Mumbai local or something, litter around the hostel, Flush nahi karna......,ahem yea you'll have to cope with such people too with all that campus jealousy in the 1st month which will make you hate this place even more.
viii.) GENDER RATIO: This college doesn't have a female reservation quota so our college is basically a boy's college 😝(my roommate was in a boy's school and then came in this college just think about it🤣)
Gender ratio is unhealthy to be short and precise
They are MAYBE adding female supernumerary seats this year and that will make things a lot better...(MAYBE)
ix.) Hostels are not like newer IIITs they are quite old and now undergoing renovations and hostels will get canteens this year. Hostels are only for 1st yr ,although they are offering for 2nd year since this year (don't ask me why they are changing so many things this year ,2026 guys might be lucky or smtg).
But anyone would prefer renting a flat with their friends near MANIT it's cheaper and you have complete freedom + walking distance to college.
These were the CONs I felt during this 1 year. Now coming to Placements ->
This is why people choose this college primarily...
A lot of misconceptions on this topic...
1.)On campus+Off campus....
The placement stats on the website are On+Off campus that's the only manipulation they do in the stats...afaik from seniors who were placed this year.
2.) 2024 RTI Placement Data post..
There is an RTI file on placement stats from 2023-2024 that file contains only On-Campus Data that too from the worst placement season (Recession+Student politics) when the placements were ongoing...So the stats look pretty daunting if you look at them.
