Selling mom’s “HEB car”

On Autotrader

Mom can’t drive anymore, so we’re selling her local errands and bridge game Honda... it's a documented, single-owner 2004 Honda Accord EX that has been professionally serviced without interruption since it was purchased new in Austin in 2004.

The whole story: 34 service history records, zero title issues, no odometer discrepancy, no airbag deployment, no open recalls. The car was serviced at Mercedes-Benz of Austin and First Texas Honda for the first 15 years meticulous, dealer-level care throughout.

At 122,991 miles over 22 years, this car has been driven gently. The engine, transmission, brakes, cooling system, and steering have all been serviced on schedule. Nothing has been deferred. Super smooth ride.

Cosmetically, and for its age, this car commands respect on the road. People say it looks like no one has ever ridden the car when they look inside.

Minor cosmetic bumper scuffs and tiny dents -the only blemishes on an otherwise exceptional record - have been professionally repaired. You will note one or two, but they are very small.

The keyless entry is currently non-functional. Everything else - engine, transmission, brakes, cooling, steering - is in excellent working order as documented. Given the comprehensive service history, a qualified mechanic will have full context for any further evaluation.

Carfax retail value: $8,450. Asking $8,100.

What is the best way to sell my Prius?

This is a fully loaded 2024 Prius Limited in Austin, Texas. It has every single option and several extras, too. 8,400 miles. A dealer confided that it has gone up in value because of market conditions. Single owner, garage kept, in pristine conditions except for a tiny scratch on the door handle.

18 months ago, I sold my beloved 2004 Mini Cooper on CarGurus for 4 times more than anyone thought I could… and I had competing offers, too. It was a safe, smooth and easy experience.

I then purchased this fully loaded fun experience-on-wheels because it was lowest in maintenance costs, serious economy in fuel costs, smooth and a surprisingly fast drive, and real eye candy.

It was not originally in the plans, but now we are leaving the country and heading to a place where only an SUV will do. I have to sell it. CarGurus is no longer available for individual sales; they only sell for dealers now.

I posted my moonlight baby on cars.com, but nada. I won’t sell this car on Facebook or craigslist for my own safety. I did get an offer on Carvana that led me to believe that my pricing is on the right track.

A friend suggested PriusChat.com, which I’m not familiar with, but that got me to thinking that I REALLY dont know what I’m doing.

Please know that I am an enthusiast and very sad about having to sell this car, but I do need to get the best money possible for it because cars are very expensive where I’m going.
