Dads with young kids… how often are you realistically playing golf now?

Before kids I thought I’d always play regularly.

Now with 2 small kids, I’m lucky if I get a range session or 9 holes in a couple times a month.

How often are you realistically playing or practicing these days?

How many rounds do you actually get in per year?

Right now I’m lucky if I get in 1 round and maybe 2–3 practice sessions per month.

Having 2 small kids definitely changes the equation a bit, especially living in Norway where outdoor golf season feels short.

Curious what the balance looks like for everyone else between actual rounds vs range/simulator/practice sessions.

When did weekends stop feeling restful?

I love being with my kids, but somewhere along the way weekends became more exhausting than weekdays.

How do you guys recharge without feeling guilty about needing space sometimes?

How old were you when you started playing golf?

I started at 38 and honestly wish I found the game earlier.

Curious how old everyone else was when they started.

And do you think golf is really one of those sports where it’s never too late to get decent?

Any other dads feel like the “second shift” starts after work?

I’m realizing work or studying is only part one of the day.

Once the kids get home it’s dinner, energy, bedtime routines, random chaos, and sometimes being up half the night.

Curious how other dads manage it without completely burning out.

What’s missing from the indoor golf experience right now?

The technology has gotten incredibly good.

But from a golfer experience standpoint, what still feels incomplete, frustrating, or disconnected to you?

How Many Clubs Do You Actually Carry?

For the longest time I carried 14 clubs because that’s what I was taught.

After taking a couple years off, I cut my bag down to 8 clubs and honestly… golf feels simpler and fun again.

How many clubs do you carry?
And is 14 overkill for most golfers?

My bag: Driver, 23° hybrid, 8i, 7i, PW, 56,52 and a Putter.

Does simulator data actually help you improve?

Honest question.

Has launch monitor feedback genuinely helped your game long term, or mostly just made practice more interesting?
