Injury

I have an overuse injury that flared up on Monday and got significantly worse yesterday. I didn’t file an injury form because I didn’t just trip and hurt myself I was walking throughout the day and my thigh started hurting and once my day was done I was in crazy pain.

I’m making a drs appt for as soon as I can and am going to see my osteo asap. But im wondering if I could get this covered by cnesst and since I’ve worked two days on it trying to push through if I can even get cnesst at this point?

16ft canoe on my Honda civic

After renting canoes for a while now my wife and I decided to (on a whim) buy a 16ft fibreglass canoe. I didn’t think of the logistics of how to get the Canoe on my car and just assumed it would be like how I get my kayaks on the car but after the fact of purchasing I came to my senses and remembered how light and small my kayaks are vs this canoe. I don’t have roof racks but I’m willing to put some on.

Anyone hauled a 16ft canoe on a small car how’d you do it? Any advice thank you. We are picking it up this weekend 😅

Loud music on trails and campgrounds

Okay I don’t know if I’m getting old and grumpy. But I’m starting to get bothered by people playing their music everywhere. I’m usually pretty chill about noise but I feel like the music is getting wild?

It’s been a few trails in a row now where people are blasting their music while hiking. Loud enough that I couldn’t even really hear the black fly circling me.

When I go camping with my family we go to the state campgrounds which aren’t all quiet but for years now have loved going to buck pond as it was a quiet campground but it’s now twice in a row we have been hit with people blasting their music on both sides of us and it drove us insane the mix of two songs playing for hours. There was no respect for the quiet time either.

I just don’t know what’s happening? Are earbuds not a good option so other people can enjoy the sounds of outdoors while they enjoy their music?

Also looking for suggestions on quiet state campgrounds as I think the times have changed for buck pond?

State campgrounds you like

Looking for campgrounds you liked in this area. I’m looking at state campgrounds because my wife really only comes camping with me when there are showers and toilets. We usually go to buck pond as the campsites are nice, the bathrooms are pretty good and we get access to lake kushaqua to paddle around in. I’ve tried sharp bridge campground which is okay it’s not very private and it’s a campground I use so I can sleep somewhere near the peaks before a hike.

We love buck pond, and are looking for something of that vibe access to water or near water. Any advice would be great ! If not we will just keep going to buck pond

Other non rustic campgrounds we’ve gone together are fish creek & rollins pond.

Owing money back on short term disability

I got a letter in the mail saying they overpayed me about 750$ on one pay statement during my stdp.

However I was only receiving 70% of my pay. My pay check that pay period was 1200$ much less than my normal period and they’re saying I owe them 750$ from that pay. I don’t understand I was only supposed to get 450$ for two weeks??

I’m so frustrated.

backpacking in the Adirondacks

hello!

im looking for some advice as I’ve never overnight hiked the Adirondacks (although z I’ve done many many hikes in the area), im planning a mini backpacking trip in the Adirondacks hopefully within the next couple of weeks (weather dependent). im planning on starting around 5pm Friday night through til Saturday evening.

I know its busy season so this might not even be possible to do?

so im wondering if you had any advice for this hike?

can you camp anywhere respecting the 150ft rule or must I camp in a designated camping spot? (Very confused about this rule)

another idea is that we would go to a campsite nearby and just wake up super early to start a nice long hike.

any advice on which hike to do? And is backpacking a reasonable option ? Or should we just di a day hike? im just craving a backpacking trip and trying to do so when I can.

edit: was Thinking in the area of jay to the six mountain wilderness

Thinking of moving provinces

currently my partner and I love in Montreal. We have been saving money to buy a house and have come to the reality that we will have to move about an hour out to afford a home and live comfortably.

the reality is to live a comfortable life near Montreal we will have to live an hour away from the city. I’m trying to wrap my head around a life of 9-5 + a commute of traffic everyday and this makes me sad.

my partner has lived in the Moncton area before and his sister lives in Fredericton. We are thinking maybe the best case scenario is to move out east. We really want an affordable lifestyle where we can raise our futur family. We are both people who spend like to spend our time outside. we aren’t big on city life activities and are home bodies.

im concerned about moving away from my community, the heal care, and child care moving out. but im so afraid of staying here and just being in this rat race of having no free time and living for the paid time off.

my partner is an electrician which I imagine isnt too hard to find work anywhere in Canada. and I work for a company that I can transfer to different branches anywhere.

has anyone moved from a big city to a smaller area? How was it?

do you live out in the maritimes do you suggest it?

I can’t believe bravo didn’t show us more of men’s behaviour!

edit: I meant Ben not men in the title

got a weird vibe from Ben from the moment he had that « chat » with Bailey. but wow after seeing the reunion and then bringing up the footage of how he spoke to Sabrina, I can’t imagine how he treats her and other women when cameras are not around.

its sad that the bravo team just let him get away with it until Bailey put her foot down.

Camping in cooler climat

I’m going camping next week with my brother and his wife who are not big campers. The low at night will range between 1-4 degrees Celsius.

im someone who kind of just layers a bunch of clothes and wraps myself in my sleeping bag and calls it a night. however I was wondering if anyone had good tips to keep the tent as warm as possible or how I can keep then as warm as possible as to not ruin the experience for them.

Racism in the work place?

I just want to know I’m not crazy. I feel and see such a divide between how white colleagues and POC Are treated by management.

I want to know if you have experienced racism at work or have witnessed it?

Feeling lost?

me and my wife (same sex couple) have been in the fertility process for a few years now. I’m 31 good amh she’s older not so good amh. the doctor told us instead of doing reciprocal ivf for me to just do IUIs. I was told by the third IUI I had a good chance of falling pregnant. by our fourth failed IUI and our donor sperm vials running low we switched to IVF.

i feel like the doctor was super hopeful. kept saying I had nothing to worry about I’ll have my baby. I just did my egg retrieval where they got 17 eggs. great. 14 of those were mature and 12 fertilized. we were hoping we would get the 50% range of 6 embryos.

we got our call on day 5 and we were told we had two good ones and 3 that they are monitoring for day 6 (which don’t have a great chance of making it).

so two good embryos.

after 3 years of testing, trying to get appointments. I just feel so defeated. i know two is still something but I really was hoping for more incase they don’t stick. idk I feel just so devasted. we can’t really go through this again, the sperm + the process has been expensive to say the least that we don’t have anymore money to spill.

any success stories? need hope again.
