2-4 weeks in hotel/airbnb. Housing contract from nov. anmeldung?

Hello!

Moving to Germany this october for my masters. Housing has been a pain, but I’ve managed to secure a contract starting the 1st of November. Now I’m looking at hotel/airbnb and sublet options for 2-4 weeks and while they’re available, they don’t come with the option for Anmeldung, so I’m a little confused about what to do since Anmeldung is required within 2 weeks of my flight into Germany. What would be the best way to go about this? Don’t want to be forced into a situation where I can’t escape fines and legal troubles.

Thanks in advance. All advice welcome!

Fly Jinnah experience to Munich?

Hello has anyone had any experience with flying to Munich using Fly Jinnah? The layover is in Sharjah and the next flight is by Air Arabia but under the same booking from fly jinnahs website.

Would I need an additional UAE visa or will it be fine?

Housing for Straubing campus?

Hi!

Gonna join this lovely community in October for a masters in sustainable management and technology. I’m considering accommodation options right now and need help from people like myself or others who have been where I am.

For someone looking for werkstudent or part-time internships, but also wanting to balance it with a social and campus life, would you recommend getting a place in Regensburg or Straubing? Should I consider the first year in Straubing and the next in Regensburg/Munich?

A bit nervous since I expect this to be vastly different from my bachelors, but excited nonetheless!

Also hmu if you’re looking for roommates in Straubing/Regensburg!

Thanks!

Any updates on Masters/Graduate scholarships?

Its july 31st and I havent heard of anyone receiving scholarships still. Is there any point in still waiting or can it be reasonably assumed all funds are exhausted?

Foreign degree equivalence in Pak?

Hi!

Temporarily back in Pakistan and wanted to get my foreign bachelors degree attested (equivalence certificate) from the HEC. I’m not able to find something on the timeline online - how long does it usually take? I’ve already completed the application and fulfilled all requirements.

Thanks!

Visa for internship/contractual work hybrid?

Hi!

I recently completed my bachelor’s degree (within the last 2 months) and secured a “Pre-Master’s” program in Germany. It runs for 12 months, with the option of extending for an additional 3 months, after which I will switch to a student visa to enroll in a Master’s program.

Its 35 hours a week, and is structured like a mix of an internship/non-renewable contract.

I was thinking about the EU blue card, but the overall pay is below the threshold, since it is somewhat like an internship. I’m confused between the skilled worker, internship, or vocational training and further education visa - none fit the description very cleanly.

If anyone here has any insights or has been in a similar position, I’d appreciate the help.

Thanks very much!

Days after application completion to final offer of admission?

I recently completed my application for the sustainable management and technology masters and submitted my VPD, for which I had previously used a VPD confirmation form. How many days should I expect to wait before I receive an answer on my application?

On the website they say awards will be announced between May, June, and July. Are the awards out yet? Did anyone hear back (rejection or notification of award)?

TIA!

22M hoping for the US from UAE/Pak

Hi!

Just graduated with a 3.71/4.0 GPA from New York University’s Abu Dhabi campus. Major in economics and minor in environmental studies. Have a bunch of international experiences (academic and professional) that have taken me to places like France, USA, Brazil, Bangladesh, and the UAE ofc. Across these, I’ve completed internships in circular economy, renewable energy policies and economics, and sustainable finance in aviation and gas. I’ve also done research with a lab on marine ecology. I’ve also represented the UAE and NYUAD in UN forums. All my experiences have been internships and not full-time, since I just graduated last month.

I also have data analysis and econometric skills in R, Python, and STATA, but I don’t really see myself building a career in that.

I was originally planning to land a job in the UAE but recent soft visa bans on Pakistanis and the job market has me in a pretty hard spot. I’d love to move to the US, but don’t really have any family or an active network there. Most friends there are also currently students.

What would be the best move to try for the USA? Any and all advice and support is welcome, but Id love to hear from those on the east coast and/or have experience in green jobs or companies. Anything decarbonization, renewable energy, business development, strategy, etc. is great.

Have around 10k USD saved up, which I know isn’t a lot but thats all i could save with my student jobs. Long term goals include a masters in a similar field but overall continued corporate work and eventually PR and citizenship. I plan on immigrating alone, not with family.
