Would you take a lower day rate for an outside IR35 contract?

I’ve been offered a contract that’s outside IR35 but the day rate is quite a bit lower than some of the inside IR35 roles I’ve been seeing.

The difference is big enough that on paper the inside role actually comes out fairly similar, once I account for the different tax treatment.

I’ve always preferred outside because I like having the Ltd company, being able to retain some profit, pension contributions etc but I’m starting to wonder whether I’m putting too much value on the “outside” label and the contract itself looks decent and the working arrangements seem genuinely independent, so it’s not really an IR35-risk question. It’s more whether the extra admin and uncertainty are worth it for a lower rate.

For those who have done both recently, how much of a rate difference would make you choose inside over outside? like I’m curious what other contractors are actually doing rather than what the theoretical calculation says.

Stripe / Shopify Payments demanding physical proof of UK address for LTD?

Hi y'all, I need help clearing a UK compliance block (for context: I'm running a UK e-com store from overseas). The LTD setup was fine, but Shopify Payments and Stripe just froze my merchant payouts. They want physical proof of a UK operating address (utility bill or lease agreement), and they're rejecting standard virtual P.O. boxes. How are other remote founders handling this?

Did you have to rent an actual physical desk just for a (utility) bill or is there a clean way around this framework?

Anyone done a luxury accessible renovation in Bergen County?

My aging parents are moving in with us and our Bergen County home needs a full renovation before they do. Main floor has to be fully accessible like wider doorways, curbless bathrooms, accessible kitchen throughout but we really do not want it to look clinical or institutional.

Has anyone been through something similar in Bergen county? How did you find a firm that actually understood both the accessibility requirements and the high-end finish level we are going for?

Anyone dealt with Miami permitting for a full home renovation?

We bought an older home in Miami-Dade and are planning a pretty extensive renovation before moving in everything including like full kitchen, bathrooms, flooring throughout and we also want to add a pool. Everyone we are talking to, keeps mentioning that permitting as the thing that kills timelines down here.

Hurricane impact requirements, Miami-Dade specific codes, pool permits on top of everything else....

For anyone who has been through a full home renovation in Miami specifically, how is the permitting side really? how does the process looks like? did you find a team that handled it or did it end up on you to figure out? And how long did the whole thing actually take from start to finish?

We refreshed our Brickell condo without a full renovation

We just finished updating our condo at Brickell Bay Drive in Miami, didn't want to do a full gut job, just wanted it to feel a bit fresher.

Small changes ended up making a much bigger difference than we expected.

In the kitchen, we kept the existing cabinetry but added a statement pendant light plus under and above-cabinet LED lighting, totally changes the vibe at night. New countertops and backsplash gave it a fresh look without a full overhaul, and a new multi-functional island with seating and storage turned a dead corner into our favorite spot for entertaining.

Bathrooms got a bolder update: concrete-look tile for a modern, industrial feel, with a navy blue subway tile accent wall in each (different layouts so they don't feel identical). Same concrete-effect porcelain on floors and shower walls, off-the-shelf vanities that look way more custom than they are, and our existing wall sconces paired with new backlit mirrors for some atmosphere, we worked with Chapter's renovation team design team to figure out the layout and finishes and proof you don't always need a full renovation to make a space feel brand new! What a Difference a Kitchen Remodel Makes (Before & After)

My house had a lot of character but needed a fair amount of work. Started down in the basement, where the brickwork needed repointing and there was quite a bit of paint work to be done as well.

I'm genuinely pleased with how it all turned out, exceeded what I was expecting.

My favorite part is the kitchen (hence sharing it here) It was an old kitchen with old cabinets and I didn't really have a clear idea of how I wanted it to look, just that I wanted something modern. The designer came up with quite a few options and we settled on one pretty quickly. The fun part was picking the color - orange has always been my favorite so that's the direction we went and I'm (and especially my dad) is clearly very happy with how it came out!!
