House of Stassi’s problem: Stassi is witty, but she isn’t naturally funny?

What I think is missing is the kind of humour that makes reality TV so engaging. Stassi is very switched on and witty. She’s great at giving us a cutting observation, a perfectly timed insult, or saying what we’re all thinking. But that’s different from being naturally funny on camera.

On VPR I feel she worked because she was surrounded by people who generated chaos (Jax, Kristen, Scheana, Sandoval) all of them giving her something ridiculous to react to. We’re watching the drama whilst laughing at the absurdity of it. On VPR, Stassi made perfect sense as one sharp, articulate character surrounded by absolute lunatics. She could judge them, react to them and narrate their insanity.

If we look to Real Housewives, in RHONY we’ve seen divorces, abusive relationships, and friendship breakdowns but also ridiculous light hearted moments where we laugh with (or often at) these women. And I feel without this conflict can feel heavy and monotonous. Ramona is often unbearable, sometimes genuinely dreadful, but also capable of producing completely unplanned comedy just by being herself.

I think it’s unfortunate Stassi keeps referencing Kris Jenner, as the comparison really highlights the difference. Kris obviously has the glamorous matriarch/momager role that Stassi seems drawn to, but Kris also has genuinely good comic timing. And what is key, Kris is willing to be the joke. Her family mock her outfits and mannerisms, expose her ridiculousness but Kris participates in it. Kris is the ‘formidable’ matriarch running the show whilst simultaneously being the joke everyone is taking the piss out of. Stassi can make a witty observation, but I think she’s less comfortable being the joke.

Ultimately I just don’t think Stassi is the right person to build a show around. I think she works really well in an ensemble (outside of her family and friends) as a witty commentator on the absurdity of everyone around her. She would be excellent on The Valley, she would be calling out everyone’s bullshit and putting them in their place with her witty comebacks.

I think she’s great on social media, I am genuinely interested in her curated lifestyle. Perhaps the show would work better being more about her being a boss bitch and what she does work wise but less about her marriage, family and friendship issues. I think if the show gets picked up again maybe they want to change direction….thoughts?

My husband refuses to discuss me being a SAHM

My husband and I have always had different outlooks on me being a SAHM, he views it as women who don’t want to work and living off their husbands hard work and I view it as a woman’s choice and a valid one if that’s what she wants and works for their family.

I want to be a SAHM and give up my job but my husband gets angry if I even bring up the subject. My husband earns about 8x what I do in a well paid job. He’s treated in high regard and has a lot of autonomy how he spends his time at work and is in a work hard play hard industry. I am in a job where I am underpaid, have a difficult relationship with my manager who refuses holiday and scolds me at time I need to take off for our son when he’s sick. I struggle to fit my work expectations in my hours and often just feel overwhelmed whilst being told I’m only meeting expectations at work.

I am the default parent, default homemaker and contribute proportionally to bills which leaves me with no disposable money left so I live off my credit card. My husband proportionally pays the rest of our bills but still has a lot more left over, so can afford trips abroad with friends and eating out etc whereas I have no money for socialising. I resent we live different lifestyles, but to add to that I have the mental load of the home plus work. I also have a chronic health condition that at times leaves me feels chronically fatigued and the stress in my job is contributing to my general poor health.

We want another child via ivf, but due to the state of my health, my stress at work I just know I can’t go through with it. The years are running out and soon it will be too late. I’ve broken down to my husband, been numb but he still says it’s just not an option to give up my toxic job. My salary barely covers nursery so if I wasn’t to work right now it would have little impact on our lifestyle other than our son would be home with me more.

This has all led to my parents and friends being very put out with my husband. I’m trying not to be a victim he’s an amazing father and can be very caring but there’s this one thing he refuses to discuss. And I feel controlled because it’s not a discussion it’s just his way. Due to the financial set up I’m now trapped in credit card debt so can’t just quit anyway.

Am I being silly? Should I suck it up and be grateful for what I have. Most women do need to go out to work. I’ve tried applying for other jobs but most require more office days or hours which won’t fit around my son’s care as my husband works long hours. I just feel so helpless.

HELP! The Inkey List have changed my holy grail cleanser

I had teenage acne, adult acne but due to post-partum exhaustion I was unable to keep up with a skincare routine and found my skin finally fixed itself. I then found my holy grail product - The Inkey List Oat Cleansing Balm - this moisturising barrier supporting ‘cleanser’ is wonderful. I cleanse just in the evening followed by LRP cicplast baume and my skin has never been happier!

Well, I’m distraught to find The Inkey List have ‘improved’ their formula - renamed ‘Oat Balm Cleanser’. On trying I knew straight away they’ve reformulated to a more regular surfactant type cleanser, it’s not as thick and moisturising and I could feel it washed my natural oils away. My skin HATES this, I’ve tried a number of ‘gentle’ cleansers including LRP Toleriane Dermo-Cleanser which broke me out.

I’m gutted after decades I found something that worked and I didn’t react to, and now it’s changed. I would be really grateful if anyone knows of a similar type balm / cleanser which may work for me. My skin just hates ‘surfactants’ and actives. I am able to go with water only, and last week my skin was super happy with just water, but I do need something for when I’m wearing makeup. Any holy grail products out there??
