Wheel of Chucks \\{.}{.}// Collection, May 2026

Pretty colors are pretty.

Basically one "everyday" Chuck in there, as in a classic canvas, simple color. And that one, I customized with a Pearl Jam logo. The rest have something unique beyond just a colorway, be it a pattern, a material, a collab, a "storytelling" shoe, etc.

Chuck's Diner: Gravy

Fun little pickup. The Chuck's Diner pack had this "Gravy" model, a "Pot Pie" one that was a light tan and a diner menu all-over graphic model that I'll be tracking down soon. The menu model is what got me searching and found these, and I couldn't resist.

THE WHEEL OF DUNKS: Or, In Praise of Those Patient Enough to Make These Pics Look Clean

Too lazy for much rhyme or reason on where they landed in the wheel here. Figured it was time for a shoe shelves overhaul, ID some pairs that can go to new homes, etc., and that's about the best time to deal with a Dunk Wheel photographic image. Handful of DS, including the Kirklands, Blue Tiles, NOTEs, Pineapples, Krampus and a few other below-retail clearance type pairs that were too good to leave behind, but not good enough to have a reason to break out yet. Such is the downside of the collecting disease. At any rate, those of you who really, really make these wheels look neat and orderly, you have my admiration!

As a not-at-all-insignificant part of what is considered the most dominant pitching performance in baseball history, Kerry Wood's 20-strikeout masterpiece in 1998, it seemed appropriate for me to give the day a little baseball theming and ball glove look.

It wasn't my first trip to a movie theater, but "E.T." was the first movie I CAN REMEMBER SEEING in a theater. It was 1982. It was summer. I was with my grandparents and younger sister in Northern Wisconsin in a town called Eagle River, where my great aunts lived.

It was decided we'd take the two little kids — me, 6, and my sister, 4 — to a movie and out for ice cream. And as I remember it, two movies were playing: "E.T." and "Annie." And even at 6, I can remember having this thought process: "IF THEY DECIDE WE'RE GOING TO SEE ANNIE AND NOT THE THING ABOUT THE ALIEN, I'M GONNA LOSE MY SHIT."

Suffice it to say, they chose "E.T.," and I fell pretty hard for an alien. I had the shirts and the books and the special magazines and the toys and the Reese's Pieces. It became really one of the most important movies of my youth, and of my life. For its time, 40+ years ago, it was about as perfect a movie as you could get.

These are from CONVERSE JAPAN. The special box is a great bonus. The Chucks themselves? They're OK. They're nice and simple, I guess. I like the colors around the badge. The patches are fun. The stars are neat-o. If I'm being honest, I love the idea of them and their place in the world more than I love their look and design. I think the property calls for something really, really, REALLY out of this world, and these are just nice and clean. Nothing wrong with that, of course!

These will be mostly a display shoe, but I'll wear them probably May 26, which is the anniversary of the "E.T." premiere at the Cannes Film Festival, or June 11, which is the anniversary of the U.S. premiere. When not being worn, I'll probably display them with some E.T.-type props like these along with my original theatrical one sheet
