Recommendations for Prison Book Club

I facilitate a book club in a prison and need some book recommendations. For context- I am a female, and this is a male prison, so obviously some topics I don’t want to tackle. We have read Man’s Search for Meaning, Frankenstein, Things Fall Apart (probably their favorite), Fahrenheit 451, a collection of short stories, a collection of poetry, The Alchemist, The Old Man and the Sea, and a few more that I can’t recall at this moment. Right now, we are reading Project Hail Mary, and they do love it. However, I am by trade a literature instructor and want to introduce as much classic literature as possible. I am careful about not including literature that contains racist language or anything too political. It’s also important to mention that because they are incarcerated they’re not necessarily interested in reading about incarceration and incarcerated people. We’ve been doing this for over three years now, and I am always looking for ideas. Thank you in advance for your recommendations! I love this sub!

Medication working? But with unbearable side effects

I have posted on here before about my chronic planter fasciitis and my journey to relief. Just a quick background: I have had plantar fasciitis and apparently other issues for about 2 1/2 to 3 years now. I have seen a podiatrist, a rheumatologist, an orthopedic surgeon, went to physical therapy for several months, and now I have seen a pain management doctor in the last week. The pain management doctor prescribed 300 mg gabapentin twice daily because he says that I have nerve damage and possible neuropathy in my feet. (Side note: no history of diabetes and I am F55 and weigh 130 at 5ft6. I did, however, wear high heels for years as an administrator at a college- regrets…) my problem now is the side effects of the gabapentin. I have taken it once a day for a week and then moved to twice a day a couple of days ago. It has helped so much with the pain in my feet! But, I feel like a zombie, and I am so tired! Does this get better? Does anyone know anything about another medicine for neuropathy that has a less sedative side effect?

Need a salon in Mobile with a stylist who can cut a (somewhat) edgy pixie and color stubborn gray. Thanks for any suggestions!

Dishwasher in new house

We just bought a new house and this is what the dishwasher looks like. I’ve already wiped it down once and I ran it two different times on two heavy duty washes with cleaning tablets. It wipes off very easily and almost feels like a thin greasy film but has returned. Quick Google search says this is old buildup. Anybody ever seen this?

Peptides?

I have been injecting BPC 157 into each foot every evening for a couple of weeks. Nothing much has changed so was wondering if anyone has had any luck with this and plantar fasciitis. I also have arthritis. Both of my feet hurt all over and constantly. This has been over two years. I have tried podiatrist, rheumatologist, orthopedic, and PT. Also, yoga, inserts- both store bought and doctor made, stretching, slant boards, rolling with bottles and lacrosse balls, and that strap thing you sleep in… Hokas, Altras, OC shoes. I have tried it all and nothing much has helped. At least not a real change. I am also a teacher so on my feet all day. I am about at my wit’s end and hoping this will work. (And yes I am aware of the lack of testing and so on with peptides. This teacher needs no lectures lol) Hoping someone has had some luck with these injections and can share some hope with me.
