'17 JKU 6 speed hard shifting

As the title says, my girl Betty has a hard time shifting into gear without grinding, unless she's double shifted or at a high rpm (<3000). Currently 126k on the body, unknown on the teams

It was replaced with a "known good transmission with fewer miles than the body" (according to the used car dealership, AFTER I purchased it.) They had bought it at auction with a bad trans.

And suggestions on where to look first? This is my first manual transmission, and I am mechanically inclined.

Briggs 17.5 hp starter gear doesnt engage

As the title says, im working on my neighbor/landlords/old timers John Deere E100, Briggs engine 31R9770063G1. He had an issue where it wouldnt start, and he decided to buy a new starter. I didnt notice a briggs stamp on it, but i did notice the drive clutch was a little torn up and wouldnt drop freely down, so i replaced it with the physically intact OEM drive clutch. Inastalled the part, but it doesnt engage the flywheel well, and now its not contacting it at all. Turn the key, the starter spins, but its dead air. Is there a known problem with these? Im still going to order a OEM briggs starter, but id just like to know if there is potentially another reason this happened. Thanks
