Anyone know what happened to this guy?

Mayle Ohfor made his famous "I accidently said "Benefactors" during a resistance interview" video and basically disappeared from BreenTube. Did he get turned into a stalker or something?

Do you think BreenTV's newest show looks kinda ass?

BreenTV announced the premiere of Impractical Citizens, airing tonight. It is just a bunch of grown men doing weird pranks and stunts. This is so cringe bruh this will never take off.

Why are people anti-SKG, in particular in spaces like reddit?

It is really odd because a lot of movements can take place on reddit, like that blackout thing a few years ago. Despite SKG being a populist, anti-corporate movement, it is weird that, specifically in gaming communities, is where I see the most anti-SKG sentiment.

I don't think it is purely astroturfing or bots. A lot of the anti-SKG accounts tend to have accounts that go years back. I can't imagine john ubisoft is going into gaming subreddits to spread anti-SKG stuff either.

I think it just comes from two types of people; people who are skeptical of all populist movements, or people hyper focused on technical aspects without thinking outside of the box.

For the latter, they value the supposed technological limitations over consumer rights. Lot of them fundamentally do not see any value in many basic consumer rights, either due to their libertarian views, maliciousness, or helplessness. They are over-graying the issue, like any problems or mistakes in the movement justify the bullcrap these companies dish out. They often put too much onus on the movements perfection rather than the exploitive practices on the industry. Many of their criticisms do not seem to be in good faith either, often never hinting at any sympathy with the movement.

At this point in time, I think it is impossible to reach these people. I tried, but they keep bringing up excuses and using their "programming and game dev knowledge" to prove that what SKG is asking for is misguided or impossible. I've seen people say technology for gaming servers has advanced so much and have became so complex, that it is impossible to go back to older methods of running or playing your game. It is legitimately asinine.

I think another reason why people, particularly game devs, are not in favor of SKG is that they believe that it somehow threatens their livelihood. No, it doesn't. Lot of games naturally have EOL plans like offline play, local hosting, etc. Some games also have more direct EOL plans like server software. EOL plans are not breaking new ground here, I doubt that finding a solution to a game, especially one that has not been developed yet, is impossible. If you, a game dev or programmer, think it is impractical for many live service games to have some sort of EOL plan, your own competence should be questioned. Adding a plan will not ruin you.

It is not impossible to have an EOL plan, especially for future games.

I don't understand how some developers think a live service game having a plan that does not break every copy of game is impossible. SKG does not specify how they even complete the task, just that as long it is reasonably playable or repairable.

I debated with some developers about SKG because some seemed skeptical of the movement, even with some being happy that it is "failing". They kept saying what SKG is asking for is not possible. I wanted actual specific, tech reasons why such plans are impractical, even for future games. I got no specific answers, other than "It is complicated now" or "It would be too expensive". They say that some software can't be made in public server software due to licensing rights or copyright, even if I said that could be planned around for future games. One person literally asked how they are supposed to have an EOL plan with zero effort. By nature, regulations require some effort from the seller.

The crew did not need to be fully online to be functionally playable, gameplay wise. There are games with dedicated server software. There are server emulators for MMOs. This tells me that these destructive live service games have design issues that should be regulated. If it is truly impossible for a live service game to have an EOL plan, it should be a subscription game in my opinion.

I hate my math related classes as a compsci major. All of this makes me hate learning.

I am majoring in software engineering and computer science. I am doing pretty good in compsci related courses, in fact I got an A in the only compsci related course I had this semester. However physics 201 (Electric and magnetic stuff) is kicking my ass and I got D this semester, meaning I have to retake it. I'm so tired of this. I just want to do computer science related things. I code in my free time and have been doing it since freshman year of HS. I am getting into reading now, and I enjoy learning about things, even if is science or math related. Instead of learning about the stuff I am literally majoring in though, I have to spend way more time focused on advanced math courses I probably won't use, and even If I do, I probably wouldn't remember enough content or be skilled in it for the future.

I don't hate learning, but something about school just makes me hate learning. I really hate college. I have to ask myself if this is all worth it. I'm making OK money my age and at my point at my life, working 40 hours a week. Every time I do assignments and think about college I have to ask myself if this actually worth it.

If I could substitute my math classes for humanities stuff I would, cause I enjoy writing and now since my social anxiety is getting better, discussion wouldn't be as hard for me. I'm going to speak with my advisor for any alternative methods to this madness.
