Thermometer Recommendations?

I have a Bodum kettle that heats up water very quick, but too hot. I know that in order to brew a correct cup of green sencha, the water has to be a certain temperature and I dont want to burn the delicate tea leaves. Does anyone have any digital or manual thermometer suggestions? I know they’re readily available anywhere, but if anyone has some quality options that would help in my tea journey!

Thoughts/Feedback?

What do yall think? I’m somewhat new to moka pot, but I think I’m getting the hang of it. I know people say Cafe Bustelo is ground too fine, but I already bought it, so I might as well use it. Let me know if you have any tips or opinions!

Kyusu Pot

I live around the Austin area in Texas. Does anyone know where I can get an authentic kyusu pot, whether at a local shop or even online? I just want a quality made, clay teapot so I can get the full experience out of my tea, which I drink daily.

Not Moka Related, But..

I have a Bialetti 3 cup moka pot. I absolutely love it, but as I get more into coffee, the amount just isn’t enough. It says 3 cups, but it’s really less than 6oz per brew. I want more, but I just don’t want to go through the process of rinsing the moka pot, grinding more beans, repacking, filter paper, all that. So I’m thinking of getting a french press, because of its simplicity and I hear good things about it. I’m looking into a Yeti french press because it’s ceramic and Im trying to avoid things like plastic. Has anyone tried this particular french press yet? Do you have any other alternatives or suggestions other than buying a bigger moka pot? Thanks!

Coffee filters

I just started becoming health conscious. I’ve begun drinking more coffee and even tea and only using glass, ceramic, or stainless steel cups. I learned to use loose leaf tea, rather than tea bags, because tea bags leach chemicals in your drink. But what about coffee filters like the V60 coffee filters? Does anybody know if they are chemical free or any options/alternatives that are safe to use? Please help!

Michael Franzese

I have an issue with Michael Franzese. I see him as a fraud in many aspects.
•First of all he keeps denying that he snitched. He testified against Norby Walters. It doesn’t matter for what reason or how it came about. Snitching is snitching, yet he keeps acting like he stayed solid.
•Second, he keeps overstating his importance. Many of his stories don’t make sense. He claims Chin Gigante tried to recruit him to his family, but conveniently there is no one to back this up and it doesn’t make sense at all. He claims that he told Persico how to handle the gas scheme. AS IF he could tell a Boss what to do, especially someone like Persico. He claims he knew Roy DeMeo and Greg Scarpa well. Nope. He probably knew Scarpa in passing due to being in the same family, but Larry Mazza someone who was with Greg Scarpa 24/7 has no stories about him. As for Roy DeMeo there is nothing to back up his claim. He was basically put in charge of the gas scheme as a show of respect for Sonny Franzese and as a way to help him pay his legal fees and bills since he was locked up. Nobody from the mob has any stories about him, he was basically a nobody.
•Third, his Youtube channel is useless. Why? Because he can’t speak about anything that anyone actually wants to know. He was convicted only for the gas tax scheme. Meaning that he can’t speak about any subject or affiliation that would tie him to any crimes that he wasnt prosecuted for. So he just makes videos reciting already known information you could find on Wikipedia about gangsters he never met like Al Capone.
•Fourth, his religion is a sham and a mockery of faith. If he is so devoted to his faith, why not confess to the murders you claim to maybe have been involved in? If not to clear your conscious, to give the families closure. Or do you care more about your freedom than your faith?
•Fifth, you can tell he is jealous of the real gangsters. Look at how he talks to someone like Sammy the Bull, as if he is above him. When in reality, Sammy was the gangster that Franzese wishes he couldve been. Sammy had real status, and was both an earner and a tough guy. Other mobsters all confirm Sammy’s status and no one can take that from him, yet pretty much no one knew of Michael’s existence.

That’s why I find him insufferable. You can kind of respect someone like Sammy the Bull, Phil Leonetti, or Larry Mazza because they are true to themselves. They know they ratted and they wear it on their sleeves. They dont try to be something that theyre not. Plus, you can believe them WAY MORE than someone like Michael Franzese. Why? Because when you cooperate, you have to confess every crime you ever committed, even the ones youre not being charged with. So when Sammy the Bull explains how he whacked someone, you can believe it. Franzese is vague about his street record. Almost like its nonexistent, but he acts like he’s keeping omerta as a way to make you think that he put in work 😂

Sorry for the long post, but just had to get it off my chest. Leave a comment if you have any thoughts. I will respond!

Unexplained Homicide

I remember reading an interview of one of the bikers that Charlie used to hang with (most likely Danny DeCarlo), and he talked about Charlie shooting a guy with a machine gun and throwing his body down a well. Why on Earth has no one followed up on that?

I believe that Charlie had committed murder before the summer of 1969, because he was way too comfortable with it. The murder of Gary Hinman and everything that followed was not his first rodeo. Plus, he even showed Tex how it was done when he himself entered the LaBianca home and tied them up, setting the stage for what followed.

Do you think Charles Manson has more bodies that we dont know about? And why has no one investigated the Danny DeCarlo claim?

I’m new to using a moka pot. I boil my water before using the moka pot and when I heat it up, I go for a medium stove heat so that the brew does not over heat. The draw is always smooth and I immediately remove it off the heat when it begins to sputter. I use Cafe Bustelo and also occasionally grind the coffee beans using Ruta Maya coffee. I do all of this but the coffee always comes out very bitter. Am I doing something wrong or is it supposed to come out that way? Please help!
