career switch from audit to accounting advisory

Hello, I am in audit for last 4 years and thinking of switching to accounting advisory. I am genuinely interested in audit but it comes with lot of requirements, like independence, long work hours and I feel the pay is not justified for the amount of work that we put. So, I am thinking of switching to accounting advisory so I can get some work-life balance.

I would like to understand your experience of moving from audit to consulting. Did you ever feel it was a mistake and wanted to go back to audit or feel you did the right thing? And can you also explain how different is consulting different from audit and accounting. I did accounting job before and it's too boring for me. How is pay vs work-life balance in consulting compared to audit. Please clarify, thank you!

H1B extension+H4 extension+EAD first time application clarification needed

Hello, we are going to apply for H1b and H4 extension along with H4 EAD in a couple of weeks and need some insights. Can someone clarify, whether paper based offline filing for all the 3 forms would be beneficial or it doesn't matter if H1B extension is filed online and H4 extension+EAD is paper based? I am worried, if H1B extension is filed online and H4 extension+EAD is filed offline, it may not be considered as concurrent filing and my EAD approval might get delayed beyond 6 months.

Audit exam preparation

As am I preparing for Audit, I am coming to realize Audit not only test auditing knowledge but also tests english knowledge. lol. Is the exam going so confusing? I worked in audit for 4 years, but somehow I am convinced I don't know a lot after I started preparation. I eliminate two wrong answers and always get confused between a right option and wrong one.

Traveling outside US with less than 6 months H4 validity

Hello, I have been residing in the US on my H4 visa for the past year. My H4 expires in November 2026. I plan to travel outside the US for a 15-day trip in August 2026. Given that the remaining validity would be around 3 months, and the current situation, would it be an issue at the time of entry? If anyone travelled with less than 6 months of H4 validity, please share your experience.

PERM processing

Hello Redditors, I would like to hear from people who have applied for PERM in 2025 and got approved this year, so that I can have an estimated time based on real case timelines. I do follow permupdate.com, but not sure how accurate it is. Thanks in advance.

Miles Audit recorded classes review needed

Hello, I’m currently preparing for Audit and trying to go through the Miles recorded classes. So far, the classes mostly feel like the faculty is just reading directly from the book.

For people who have already prepared for/passed Audit — is studying the book thoroughly enough, or do the recorded lectures actually add value later on (concept clarity, exam approach, memory tricks, important topics, etc.)?

Trying to figure out whether I should continue spending time on the videos or focus more on self-study from the material.
