KemoPla Kit Compatibility?

KemoPla Kit Compatibility?

I recently made a custom head framework for the figures and I was curious if my heads might fit anything else, im not into the kit figure scene or anything, I just have my 2 figures and dont really want to get more, just wondering what the deal is with parts. Are my prints essentially locked down to the KemoPla figures or is it like a standardized thing?

KemoPla Custom 3D Printed Head Framework!

Very outside my usual work but ive been loving these gals a ton! So I went ahead and 3D scanned and remodeled the interface for head attachments! It works well and articulation is there I just have to tweak tolerances as theyre a little tight on attaching/removing and do a couple full head scans so I can make head sizing more consistent (Poor Coco Bandicoot 😅) but so far its as easy as getting a head, scaling it then subtracting the fitment mesh! EZPZ, next thing is probably reverse engineering the faceplate system but that's a later project as im a busy boi!

Oni has been doing other expirements on Reach apparently..

Make a normal human beefed up to go toe to toe with a Sanghelli? Or make giant humans? All seriousness im surprised she even works with the figure scale although she's well over 2 meters tall, randompost!

Im at a crossroads with my Halo Reach Falcon design and I need your help!

Check my other posts for the falcon build details but I have been experimenting with passive lighting for certain effects after some inspiration I landed on acrylic gems/reflective studs and im curious should I keep these in the final design or not? Im a bit mixed about it, I like them but its unconventional, I can easily design a recess for better presentation and this is just a prototype mock up. Im genuinely curious what the community thinks especially since im close to production and theyll be available for purchase soon, so the question.. scrap or keep?

Halo Reach 1:64 Scale Articulating Falcon 3D print Update!

Just finished the side gun cradles! Was a little worried as it was the smallest articulating piece ive ever worked with but thankfully there wasnt a need to scale the gun up so it is game accurate scale in 1:64 scale thanks to sewing needles handling the pivots (huge shout out to size 11 hand sewing needles they're really op, tiny and extremely cheap!) With this im almost done and all thats left to do is rework the grenade launcher as the mount is prone to snapping since its so small, redo the chin gun mount geometry as it likes to rip the mount from the airframe on drop tests and also make the main wing sections modular for repairability in falls (you can thank my adorable quality assurance team which consists of my 3 cats for prompting the changes as they love drop testing my model!) but thats light work and then its the final detail pass like panel lines, greebles etc and you should be able to look forward to possibly getting one yourself in the next month!

Bro wake up its 2011 and new Mcfarlane Halo Reach guns just dropped!

Was working on the articulating1:64 scale falcon project im cooking up and just finished the articulating door gun cradles and in turn the guns themselves at which point I said screw it and scaled them for the Mcfarlane figures. In retrospect the machine gun is the same as the defensive mounted turret but hey at least the grenade launcher is new! Fresh off the plate!

An update on the McFarlane Halo Reach figure chestplates!

Don't mind the left side its just some plasma damage (support failed) I got a bit more work done for the chest piece replacement project and chest framework im building for the reach figures. The top lines up extremely well and everything actually fits in terms of pegs and overall form, I just have to have a revision pass around the bottom of the chestplate as theres way to much material there which affects the bottom fit as well and the side prongs being misaligned and some overlap armor but I was honestly very surprised it fit at all! Feels pretty unreal as im a new collector for the line only having like 3 figures so far but already having tons and tons of accessories I printed, I have almost no official accessories and now this.. my final vision is to extend the mcfarlane modularity to the base chest itself so all armor variants just use pegs to attach to the base armor which would open a lot up in terms of armor customization. The chest interface was 3D scanned if youre curious how I got this far (I dont have a chest piece sadly or else it would already be done lol)

McFarlane Halo Reach Figures Chest Plate Reconstruction Framework!

3D scanned, measured and remodeled the chest plate attachment point and made a purpose built Boolean mesh for all future Halo Reach figure armor 3D prints where all you do is model your armor, extend the z axis or backing and use the model I made as a Boolean or cutaway for closer sculpt fitment, I personally would love to make the base armor separate from the armor variants like it is in game so missing your accessories doesn't mess with the armor silhouette. I plan to release this file free to use for the community once I nail down fitment as tolerances are not tuned right now and it needs bevels, I haven't test printed anything but once that's done it'll basically be plug and play for all you lovely makers and customizers!

New update on 1:64 scale 3D Printed Falcon! Hard surface modeled the chin gun and added articulation mechanics! All that's left to do is attach it to the airframe

The attachment method is a proven 2mm steel pin system and the mount point is already modeled in another version of the Falcon. Side note: I also realized I forgot to mirror one of the rotors so I fixed that as well and it counter rotates properly now!

Designed and 3D printed a 1:64 scale articulating Falcon!

Something Ive always wanted as a kid and this one is alive! Working on door and main guns, also set to be articulating. It even has small vibrations when the rotors spin making it feel like the engines are actually running which is icing on top!

Hot Birds Ski Gull Figures!

Stood up way too late last night designing these little astronaut guys from a rigged file I have to fit my planes. Its honestly crazy how well they fit and ladder guy just worked first try its beautiful! I honestly want to make some as like mechanics inspecting maybe star grazer's engines that would be cool and posing is a breeze now

Unreleased Mattel Hot Birds Recreation Project - Stratus Seeker! First Update

Some steps made in my goal to recreate the missing Hot Birds castings. I have successfully blocked out the Stratus Seeker and have a low poly base to work off of now!

Not just a visual recreation I have been working to reverse engineer working number ranges for everything from average wingspans to edge thicknesses and even radii to try and come as close as possible to what these planes would have been if they were actually produced complete with play features and playset compatibility planned later on in the project. This model fits all known ranges and I used star grazer as a close match since they seem most likely to share sizings based on footprint alone but based on everything I found in my research the Stratus Seeker may have arguably been the biggest model in terms of fuselage cross sections seconded by ski gull which is neat and depending on the internal structure Stratus might have been the heaviest as well.

Only known drawbacks so far is im unsure if the fuselage cross sections were intended to be so large since it sits outside of ranges the original castings had by a wider margin and im judging this based on the assumption that stabilizer heights stayed consistent (around 20mm) which they are on the original lineup and using those proportions to determine the rest and wing thicknesses are also consistent with ski gull really being the outlier here so its not a blind assumption and is likely the most accurate build I can present based on existing planes and proportional sizings using those numbers.

Its not perfect and theres a lot of work still to be done especially with trying to figure out what the back and bottom may have looked like as well as blending the body and making the edges consistent with the originals and small proportion changes (especially in body length relative to wings) but so far it feels great to have one on my desk and doesnt actually stand out that much with the others in the line which is a promising sign that I got pretty close with sizing.

Id love to hear what you think about this

Tldr: Low poly for now recreation of unreleased Hot Bird using reverse engineering and archeological reconstruction techniques from a single photo

Unreleased Hot Birds Reference Update!

Found the original source of the 2 unreleased Hot Birds planes 5937-Sky Diver and 5938-Stratus Seeker images I was searching for. The planes were planned to be the next additions to the line in 1972 before being discontinued and from my knowledge and collector chatter no model has yet surfaced. Reference is Located in the Mattel Toys and Hobbies Catalogue (1972) on page 5

Hot Birds Reference Help

Was looking around online and found mention of these 2 castings for hot birds that were supposedly never released. I was wondering if anyone might now more about this and if possible where these photos might originate from because I am very interested in 3D designing them for 3D printing and would ideally love clearer reference photos for recreating them although I might be able to make it happen with what I have if need be. Also I noticed Stratus Seeker may seem to have a pilot figure which is interesting

One step closer to 3D printed Exos!

I never stop working and this time its a project I've been dreaming about a lot. Action figure exos based on AW and last night I came one step closer with this round of test prints being done. For context I came across these JoyToy action figures (last 2 photos) that looked eerily similar to AW and had solved the articulation problem well so I just went with that design solution but used the game files as a base to build off of for 4 inch action figures and instead of printed or plastic pins im opting for metal since I have tons of scrap steel wire with 2mm diameter so it fits well here. Anyway, with the new knowledge I went ahead and modeled the bottom half of the exo (making manifold adjusting thicknesses for durability) and it actually works! Granted I have to size my figure up better and improve the belt as it was a quick and dirty model attempt but the framework is there to do that very easily making integrating with a wide range of 4 inch action figures possible with small tweaks. My only roadblock is getting articulation from the shoulders to the spine but im considering making the top and arms a seperate assembly independent of the spine and legs since the backpack is going to cover it anyway and that will probably be a simple clip on the torso so it stays modular as well as the same for the chest pieces and the shoulders support the arm exos via collar and the chest can attach there too. Im not sure let me know what you think and if you have any ideas or suggestions im open to it! Im glad this game is still getting the love and the community here is awesome and we are everyday one step closer to actual physical models and im glad to be a part of that push. Im leaning towards a final price tag of $10-15 for a full exo and backpack/chestplate for those without printers as well as sizing ranges for better figure compatibility with sizing sheets to figure out what you need as well as metal pin fabrication which is untested yet but concept looks good so I feel thats fair but my estimate is 2 weeks to a month for full completion and as for the warbird in havent forgotten it, I just got swept up in a design high after seeing the joytoy stuff

I regret to inform you we were sold out the next day so you cannot, in fact, get your dopeness. Maybe next time!

Why waste half a sheet of item level stackout stickers when you can do this instead?

Warbird (Nearly) Ready for Deployment

I got bored and said F it I want more action figure vehicles, what better way these days than 3D printing, and I landed on the good old Warbird! Ive already gotten a ton of work done with the game files and now am mainly separating all the hundreds of little parts (811 of them!) Deciding whats actually important and im making everything a single solid mesh before re-adding the interior later and im nearly there for a solid warbird frame for other scales but this baby is going to be 1:25 scale for 4 inch figures and measures a decent 24 inches long, 5.7 inches tall and nice 25.5inch wingspan I arrived at these numbers by doing measurements using other game assets as a ruler and the warbird in game is actually a respectable 3.6m height, 15.3m long with a 16.2m wingspan at full scale. On a real note I love advanced warfare and it kind of sucks there was never any things from it aside from the mega figures and a couple patches, if there is anything you could make from it what would it be? (Also did you know the pilots of the warbird are dipping "Minty Fresh Chaw, 100% Long Cut"?) Definitely going to be doing more vehicles too since im in love with AW once im done
