Kannada cinema has a pattern of repeating successful formulas. After KGF, we saw movies like Kabzaa following a similar larger-than-life action template, along with many other examples.

Instead of using a successful movie as inspiration to explore new stories and ideas, the industry often seems to repeat the same formula over and over, sometimes for years.

I am wondering if Premada Oorali could start another cycle like this. One successful movie becomes a template, and suddenly we get several movies trying to recreate the same magic, until audiences eventually get tired of it.

Are we heading toward the same cycle again?

I am honestly tired of Kannada movies right now. Almost every new film has the same problem: loud music, slow-motion walks, cringe hero scenes, and no real story.

Look at Malayalam cinema. They are making 100 to 200 crores on small 20–30 crore budgets just because they focus on good writing.

Forget about making movies as art, even as a business, why can't our producers see this? Why can't they focus on making profits from a good movie? Spending big money on old action formulas that flop makes no sense. Small budget movies with good stories make much better profits. We have great writers in Karnataka, but producers only want to spend money on star hype.

Why is KFI so afraid to change? When will our directors start respecting the script?

Today, I had groceries worth ₹215 in my Zepto cart, and it was showing free delivery for orders above ₹199.

I added a ₹250 container, which took the total to ₹465. I then removed the container because I decided to buy it another time.

Immediately after removing it, Zepto changed the minimum order for free delivery to ₹399 and showed a ₹30 delivery charge, saying it was due to “high demand.”

Is this just a coincidence, or is Zepto intentionally encouraging users to add more items to their cart?

Karnataka is called the IT state of India, yet its main subreddit is embarrassingly inactive.

Other state subreddits have active moderation, regular discussions, local news, events, recommendations and actual community engagement.

I can see that some people have already tried creating other Karnataka-related subreddits, but instead of having the community fragmented across multiple smaller subs, the subreddit with the simple name Karnataka should be the one that works and serves as the main community for Karnataka.

What can actually be done to make the Karnataka subreddit active again? Are there ways to increase the number of moderators and bring in active members from the community to help run it?

There is clearly potential for a much better Karnataka community here, but right now it's being wasted. Karnataka deserves a functioning state subreddit, not a dead one.

Is something wrong with the current mod? Why is there such a strong reluctance to let anyone else help run the community?

There is a difference between loving Hinduism, its traditions and culture, and being hardcore right-wing to the point where politics is driven by hatred.

What surprises me is that people in other South Indian states seem able to practice Hinduism without turning it into hatred toward others. But Karnataka seems to be going in a very different direction.

Our state feels increasingly polarized. I see people celebrating hatred, abusing those who criticise Modi or expose BJP’s lies, and sometimes even putting blind loyalty to Hindutva above Kannada and Karnataka’s own interests. Some seem willing to backstab their own state just to defend their political ideology.

Karnataka feels like it has become a major hotspot for this kind of hatred and polarisation.

How did this happen? What are the historical, political, social and economic reasons behind Karnataka’s shift toward the Hindu right?

I am from Karnataka, and my cousin’s child is currently studying in an ICSE school here. Hindi is compulsory from 1st standard onwards, with no apparent option to choose another language.

In Karnataka, Hindi seems to be imposed in many ICSE schools from a very young age, even though Kannada is the state language. I am curious whether this is an ICSE wide thing or specific to Karnataka.

For those from Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh or Telangana, is Hindi compulsory in your ICSE schools too, or can students choose another language?

Today I saw a guy teaching his girlfriend to ride a motorcycle on double-decker flyover. She was clearly still learning and wobbling across the lane.

Nothing wrong with learning to ride, but a busy flyover with fast-moving traffic is one of the worst places to do it. There are plenty of empty grounds and quieter roads to practice on first.

One mistake could have put both of them and everyone around them at risk.

Siddaramaiah may not be the perfect politician, but right now he is probably more popular than any other leader in Karnataka.

A big reason Congress won Karnataka was Siddaramaiah himself, along with public frustration against BJP. If DK Shivakumar had been projected as the CM face before the election, I honestly don’t think Congress would have won such a big majority.

Siddaramaiah seems like the only leader in Karnataka who has enough mass support across regions and communities to potentially build a strong regional party. But is that realistically possible at this stage of his career? Would it survive beyond him?

I heard there was an accident on the double-decker flyover (near BTM) about an hour ago, something about a car toppling. Any updates?

In many videos online, I have noticed Kannadigas often end up asking others to speak Kannada when the conversation starts in Hindi.

The problem is that once it becomes a "please speak Kannada" argument, the focus shifts away from the actual point and turns into unnecessary online drama.

Instead, a better approach is simply to continue speaking Kannada when the other person starts in Hindi. Keep your language consistent without turning it into a demand or confrontation.

If you keep switching or requesting, it gets framed differently and often used against you in discussions. But if you calmly stick to Kannada in your own speech, you avoid escalation and still hold your ground.

No need to over-explain or force it. Just speak Kannada and move on.
