Apple Music on Windows is so bad I’m debating switching

I genuinely do not understand how the Apple Music client on Windows is this terrible.

On iPhone and Mac? Apple Music is actually really good. The app feels polished, and I feel the integration is great, and features like AutoMix are a big part of why I switched to Apple Music in the first place. I completely understand why someone who lives entirely in the Apple ecosystem would love it.

But on Windows, it is an absolute fucking joke.

I’ve had the app randomly refuse to sign in. I’ll open it and it won’t even clearly say that I’m signed out; it’ll just stop working properly. I’ll authorize the computer, enter my Apple ID, do everything it asks, and then it’ll ask me for my Apple ID again. And again. And again.

This isn’t one bad PC or one weird network either. I’ve had this happen across multiple Windows devices and multiple networks.

I’ve also had the Apple Music client crash so badly that my entire computer became unresponsive and I had to restart it. A MUSIC PLAYER should not be capable of taking down my whole PC.

And before someone says “just use the Apple Music web player” come on. The web client is not a serious replacement for a desktop app. If I’m paying every month for a music streaming service, I shouldn’t have to use a worse browser version because the actual Windows client barely works.

Then you compare it to Spotify and it gets even more ridiculous. Spotify Connect alone is something I miss constantly. Being able to be on my computer, start playing music, and then control that same session from my phone or even continuing it is incredibly convenient. Apple has multiple devices, an entire ecosystem, and some of the best device integration in the industry… yet somehow Apple Music still doesn’t give you an equivalent experience across platforms.

One of Apple Music’s biggest advantages used to be lossless audio, but now Spotify has lossless too. I don’t have some insane audiophile setup where I’m going to benefit from Hi-Res Lossless anyway; regular lossless is more than enough for me. And now that Spotify is the same price (student), that advantage is gone. At this point, I’m paying the same amount for a service with a significantly better Windows client and features like Spotify Connect, so it’s getting really hard to justify staying with Apple Music.

I understand that Windows obviously isn’t Apple’s priority. They want people using Macs, iPhones, iPads, etc. Fine. But Apple Music is also supposed to compete with Spotify as a cross-platform streaming service. If you’re going to sell the service to Windows users, the Windows app cannot feel like something nobody at Apple actually uses.

This is basically the last straw for me. I like a lot of Apple Music’s features on iPhone. AutoMix is cool. The mobile app is good. There are absolutely things Apple Music does better.

But none of that matters when the desktop client I have to use every day is this unreliable.

I’m HEAVILY debating going back to Spotify. At least Spotify seems to understand that the app itself is part of the product.

Does anyone know if Albertsons/Safeway offers an education expense fund or tuition reimbursement?

Hey y'all,

I work full-time at an Albertsons/Safeway owned company in Washington State, and I'm also a full-time university student.

I've heard people at Kroger mention things like:

  • Education Expense Fund
  • Tuition Reimbursement
  • Education Assistance
  • Associate Scholarships

But I can't find much information about them on myACI or any Albertsons websites.

Has anyone here successfully applied for:

  • Tuition reimbursement through Albertsons/Haggen?
  • An Education Expense Fund?
  • Any employee scholarship program?

If so:

Where did you find the application?

  • Was it through myACI?
  • Did you have to go through HR or the Associate Experience Center?
  • Are pharmacy employees eligible?

I work in the pharmacy and don't qualify/pay for any union benefits. I'm trying to figure out what benefits are actually available before I start paying another quarter's tuition. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

Xfinity still sends advertising push notifications with no real opt-out and support keeps gaslighting users

Take a quick peek at this forum before reading this post.

I use the Xfinity app for exactly two things: outage notifications and billing alerts. That’s it. I don’t want promotions, streaming ads, phone upgrade offers, “special savings,” or random entertainment notifications showing up on my phone every other day.

So naturally, I tried to turn them off.

Except apparently that’s impossible.

Before anyone pastes the same support script again: yes, I checked every setting people keep mentioning. I went through the app settings, account settings, notification settings, communication preferences, and the Xfinity Privacy Center. I disabled every marketing-related option I could find on the website. None of it affects the push notifications coming directly from the app.

The only push notification categories I actually have are things like “Network Access” and “Network Activity.” There is no “Marketing” toggle. No “Promotions” setting. Nothing.

What makes this even more ridiculous is the giant Xfinity support thread where dozens of users are describing the exact same problem for months straight. People posted screenshots proving the option doesn’t exist, and support still kept replying with the exact same incorrect instructions over and over again like nobody even read the thread.

At one point support suggested maybe some users couldn’t see the settings because they weren’t Managers on the account. I am a Manager on the account. Still no option. Still getting spammed with ads.

The only real workaround is disabling all notifications for the Xfinity app at the phone OS level, which also disables outage alerts, billing notifications, and security notifications. So apparently the choice is either:

receive important account alerts AND marketing spam

or

receive nothing at all

That’s an insane design for a utility app people are already paying for.

Honestly the most frustrating part isn’t even the notifications anymore, it’s the support responses. Customers repeatedly explain that the setting literally does not exist, and support just keeps looping the same canned directions anyway. It feels less like support and more like talking to a wall.

At this point I’m probably filing complaints through FTC consumer channels and sending feedback to Apple because this has been going on for months and Xfinity still seems unwilling to either fix it or simply admit the feature doesn’t properly exist for many users.

And if an Xfinity employee replies to this: please actually read what people are saying before posting the same fake menu path again. And I will NOT be sending any mod mails, please comment directly under the post
