Style of the Month August 2026: West Coast IPA

Sorry for the delay, things have been insanely busy on my end to update this.

The summer months are nearing an end, which means we are transitioning from lighter beers to heavier, malt-forward beers. What better vision of that for August is the West Coast IPA?

West Coast IPAs took over in the late 2000s/early 2010s with its characteristic citrus notes and its HEAVY pine and overwhelming bitterness. Since then. the style has had a resurgence and had changed arguably for the better, but its still known for being clean and bitter while being crushable.

What is your favourite West Coast IPA from Toronto Breweries?

Triple Rise - Third Moon Brewing

Triple IPA version of their flagship pale ale. This may actually be the best triple IPA I've ever had!

Smoking Section BBQ popup at Great Lakes Brewery

/u/walkerlucas posted last week about his popup opening over the summer at Great Lakes Brewery, so I ventured over to check it out. The burger is easily in the top three burgers I've had in Toronto! The smoked flavour shines while the outside still has that char! This place is legit, definitely check it out if you're in the area!
