After weeks of waiting for the Chessnut Companion clock it finally arrived today…non-working and seemingly broken.

🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️

The face of the clock was completely detached and stuck to the black foam in the box where it appears the glue on the back attached itself to the foam.

The clock was poorly packaged. There was nothing protecting the clock face (no plastic film…nothing). There was nothing protecting the clock period. One of the buttons appears to be damaged as well.

I can’t tell you how disappointing this is to me.

I own both a Chessnut Move and Evo.

I was really looking forward to this thing.

I have never returned or exchanged one of their products.

I know they are based in China.

How quickly is the process? Is it easier to request a refund or request an exchange?

The clock is now selling for more than I paid weeks ago. I’m concerned.

We have finally got to a point where we, the audience, don’t have to suffer through their spats.

The writers on this show love to beat a dead horse to the point that the audience is turned the fuck off.

If they are now trying to move forward with some type of Izaiah/Eva/Kat triangle I’m officially out.

I can’t do it.

I’ve been watching soaps for 36 years. Kat/Eva is without a doubt the most contentious ratchet and over the top rivalry I have ever seen between two black women/sisters on a soap, and their fan bases.

I’m over it.

I have been thanking God that they have seemingly moved on from the rivalry. It was to the point that I was considering removing the Kat/Eva weekly post.

However, after today’s episode, I strongly suspect they are going to pursue some type of Kat/Izaiah friendship turned romance and I’m not here for it.

As the saying goes….curiosity killed the cat…

I’m legit curious about this one especially after reading some of the commentary about Heather/Andre on social media.

It doesn’t even feel like I’m watching a soap opera.

The lack of continuation of the storylines is a serious problem.

These feel good Brady Bunch moments is another problem.

The lack of drama on this bitch is one of the biggest problems.

I don’t want to watch The Waltons.

Where are the feuds? Where is the drama? 🤦🏽‍♀️

Seriously….it’s like she wants to center herself in their relationship.

Why?

Today she went to Ted’s office for no apparent reason than to say, “I heard you love Shanice….”

Previously, she had a whole conversation with Shanice about her and Ted falling in love. WTF? 🤨🤨🤨

Who the hell does that with their ex-husband’s next? Why is it any of her business? Why go to Ted’s office to have the same conversation???

Furthermore, she wants to discuss Ted’s love life, but as soon as he starts asking questions about hers it’s “You are crossing the line.”

Girl, you crossed the line when you walked your ass into his ass to discuss HIS love life. 🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️

What is her deal? Does she want Ted back or not? Does she just hate to see him moving on? Didn’t she tell him to move on?

Before this post starts popping, if you’re one of those people who feels some kind of way about anyone criticizing this show for whatever reason you need to go ahead and bypass this thread.

It has been over a year since this show debuted. As far as I can tell the best it was written was in the very early months.

After Bob Guza left the writing went straight to shit and has stayed there.

MVJ is a piss poor writer and creator. The same for Tracey Thomason.

The only drama we get on this show is involving petty grievances and health.

Everybody got diabetes, having strokes, got cancer, got some type of gene, having memory issues, need a transplant etc.

When there are storylines they are disjointed, dropped, drag forever pace wise, lack proper dialogue etc.

We have given these folks the benefit of the doubt. We were told, “This is a new soap give it time” and “You must be new to watching soaps. This is how it works.”

We are done with the excuses.

At what point do we start demanding change???

I don’t care what some say.

There is no defense for this woman’s behavior.

Eva is asked to do a PSA by Chelsea AFTER she first ran it by Kat, who declined to do it herself.

Eva and Chelsea make an informative live stream about organ donation.

Kat gets jealous and looses her shit.

She is back to her nasty dog whistling classism and bigotry of calling Eva a hoodrat.

Naw boo…that’s just the way this bitch rolls.

I honestly think this is one of the problems. The couplings just aren’t working.

Ted/Shanice: She seems indecisive and insecure. Her whole personality has changed since getting with Ted. I think she is his rebound and he is in denial about it. This is a crash and burn waiting to happen.

Nicole & Whoever: I don’t think she is right with anyone except Ted. One minute is she having fantasies about him and the next we don’t hear anything more about those fantasies. The dudes she is screwing are clearly only keeping the bed warm for her inevitable reunion with Ted.

Ashley/Grayson: The problem here is Ashley sucks period. Coupling her with anyone isn’t going to fix it. I think they dumped Derek because they thought he was the problem. Instead it is and always has been her. The character simply doesn’t work (nothing personal against the actress).

Jacob/Naomi: It’s not even believable that these two are happily married.

Kate/Tomas: Probably the most incompatible couple on this show.

Bill/Hayley: An odd coupling from the beginning that is made worse by her deception.

Andre/Dani: Outside of sex these two have nothing in common. It was doomed from the start. She is a bird. He is too good for her.

Martin/Smitty: Boring as hell. Comes across as roommates than a married couple. Poorly written. Appears to have been created for the purpose of checking a box.

Chelsea/Madison: Rushed. Largely incompatible. Viewers can’t even get invested in them because they are barely seen and their storylines happen offscreen.

The only couples that work in my opinion are Vernon/Anita, Eva/Izaiah, Leslie/Marcel, and Vanessa/Joey.

The lack of drama on this show, and the disjointed/non-continuous storytelling is a serious problem.

I think part of the problem is this family has no type of business or industry in which they can have family feuds or feuds with others.

We don’t give a damn about their offscreen role in politics.

They need some type of business.

The question is what type of business?

I don’t think it should be anything revolving around fashion or healthcare. Chelseakat ain’t hitting on shit and we are tired of the not so subtle health PSAs.

Which brings us back to our other problem: the lack of young males in this family.

Businesses are usually started by men. Yes, I know we’ve progressed and women now start businesses too. I know women will help start businesses with their husbands. However, for the most part men are more likely to start, own, and run a business than women.

Vernon is too old to start a family business. He has no sons.

Surely, these shortsighted writers and producers should have thought better of having Martin as the only young male in this family to strive to carry on the family name via business, success, legacy, etc?!

Who amongst Vernon and Anita’s descendants can we even see starting a family business?

Maybe the answer to this problem is to simply introduce a brand new family with a successful business empire.

It needs to be said…

Making the character, Martin, gay was one of the biggest mistakes of this show.

He is literally the ONLY young male in this family (not counting Tyrell, who is basically a kid).

There could have been any number of storylines to come from Martin philandering or having a badass political wife who shakes things up or is constantly at odds with The Duprees. It would have made more sense for him to end up with an opportunistic Hayley type than Bill.

And this is another reason making him gay was a mistake….

It would have given this show an opportunity to introduce other black women onto the show who weren’t part of the Dupree family by birth.

This show is strongly lacking in the drama department. It would have been nice to see an adversary amongst this family. It would have been nice to see the daughter in law or sister in law from hell where Nicole, Kat, and Eva are concerned. I’m thinking a black Brooke Logan type!

I’m thinking this might have been the reason they made the character, Chelsea, bisexual….to bring in more young black women characters. However, Madison is dull as hell and Chelsea is a bird. 🤦🏽‍♀️

As it stands today we have a stale gay couple with Martin and Smitty, who have annoying kids who are damn near adults.

This character has been boxed into a hole.

We can’t get any drama out of him that doesn’t involve some ridiculous nonsense surrounding Smitty and the kids.

His political career happens completely off screen.

A young black female counterpart for him probably could have done wonders to improve the storylines surrounding him. She probably would have done wonders for this show period.

This dude actually thinks Bill will sidestep his flesh and blood (I.e., Naomi) and anoint him king of the hill.

He stepping out of line with Naomi, sitting behind Bill’s desk, and doing all kinds of disrespectful shit.

I can see it now…Bill is going to finally fire his ass, and that will be the end of Tomas on this show.
