Questions about the Ahriman arc

Why couldn't Ahriman simply wreck havoc to their heart's content? What was the point of them spending all that time on Duncan specifically? If they basically needed Duncan "on their side," as it were, what was stopping Ahriman from doing something like not killing Richie, convincing Duncan they are actually good, and playing the long game in terms of causing destruction that Duncan would be unlikely to blame on them? In fact, why not take a page from Highlander 3 and try to trap Duncan in a cave if killing him isn't an option?

Star Wars Holiday Special fanedit idea

When thinking of the best possible idea for a fanedit of the Star Wars Holiday Special, I thought a fun idea could be to treat it as a coda to the classic trilogy. Imagine, if you will, that after Return of the Jedi, there is a strong desire for more Star Wars with the classic cast, but no one has much interest in doing it. Thus, as a compromise, this hypothetical sequel comes out as a TV special with intentionally low stakes. The plot is essentially about the leads trying to accustom themselves to their new normal after what happened. They essentially imagine key moments of their past that consist of deleted scenes from the classic trilogy. I may use a little footage from the Ewok movies to show some conflict along the lines of remaining loyalists of the Empire fighting before being snuffed out more thoroughly. Ultimately, Leia's song at the end would signify them healing and moving forward.

Any suggestions or ideas would be appreciated.
