DMs, what is your best Session 1 start, besides "You all meet in a Tavern"?
Hey everyone :)
I'm a New DM for my Group. So far I've run one or two one Shots and I've also been a player in a year-long campaign.
My Players did say they liked the way I was DM'ing so far and we want to Start our first Real Adventure together.
So for now I'm preparing my first longer campaign, and I'd love to avoid the classic "You all meet in a tavern" opening.
I immediately want my Players to be engaged with the Story and would like to "borrow" some Ideas from you :)
Edit: In the beginning i want my Players to don't know each other. Would be a good and a mysteries way for them to see what characters they Build. 1 Player is using an NPC from my first One-Shot. This will make them laught :D
Edit 2: Thank you all for so many replies in such a short time. I will use some things from the comments! Thanks guys!
"Roll initiative"
Edit 3: We already did a Session 0 for all the players. What are they expecting and after that we created there characters in secret of each other.
We agreed we wanted to start at Level 1 this time around and start from there :)
