Set aside the lawyer foyer and the dormer window/roofline sitch ... WTF is going on with those garages? Why is one normal and the other ones recessed?
Why do the recessed ones have ... patios, are they? To hang out and observe the sport of people actually parking in these things?
I had these topies added by someone other than my usual cobbler (long story) and they seemed fine at the time. Now, around two years later, the topies are peeling away. It doesn't seem to be based on patterns of wear or usage, more like the glue has given up the ghost.
Is this a normal lifespan for topies, or has something gone wrong? They haven't been exposed to extremes of temperature or anything like that. Also, might the current topies be salvaged or would the cobbler start from scratch?
My regular cobbler retired last year (great guy, did great work) so I've been casting around for a replacement for some time. I'm a dancer, so many of my shoes get quite a workout.
I had a pair of peep-toe shoes where, on one shoe only, the upper had pulled away from the sole - a simple regluing job.
Whenever I went to my previous guy, he would take both shoes, regardless of whether only one was visibly damaged. His rationale was that if one had failed, the other would probably fail in the same place pretty soon, so he'd check both and do what he could to stabilize them.
Maybe he charged a small amount extra for this? I don't know, his prices were reasonable and his work was always so good that I didn't mind one way or the other.
When I took the peep-toes to a new guy, he said "Nope, just leave the broken shoe, I don't need the other one."
The fix was fine, but ... can you guess what's coming? Yup, the other shoe has now failed in the exact same way.
My question: is taking both shoes standard practice, or was my old guy just being nice? It's obviously going to cost me more to have the second shoe repaired individually.
Also, I want to know where to get one of these cool blankets thx.
