Although Uganda has a strong agricultural sector and produces a variety of food crops, malnutrition remains a major challenge. This is because food availability does not always mean people have access to a balanced and nutritious diet.

Poverty, limited nutrition knowledge, poor feeding practices, frequent illnesses, inadequate healthcare, and post-harvest food losses contribute to malnutrition.
