How would you rank 5 Ghibli x IMAX releases in terms of how well they work in IMAX?
So as of today, we have seen 5 Ghibli films arriving in IMAX - The Boy and the Heron, Princess Mononoke, Kiki's Delivery Service, Whisper of the Heart, and Arrietty. How would you rank them in terms of how well they work in IMAX and why? As for me, this is how I would rank them:
- The Boy and the Heron - No questions asked. This has THE best animation among anime films, so of course, it's going to be ranked at the top. Seriously, can we have an IMAX double feature event between this and Treasure Planet?
- Princess Mononoke - Probably has the best animation among cel-animated films from Japan. This one is ranked at the second because the sound effects feel a bit dated by today's standards, but it's still worth checking out in IMAX.
- Arrietty - Aside from having excellent animation and sound effects, it makes the setting look much bigger than it actually is by having a lot of focus on he Borrowers.
- Kiki's Delivery Service - The animation showing some ages caused me to dock off points in terms of how well it works in IMAX, but it was still worth it, especially with some of the flying scenes and bicycle + airplane hybrid scene - and do keep in mind that this could be coming from a biased point of view since I watched this in IMAX not too long after watching Hoppers in IMAX as well.
- Whisper of the Heart - This is probably the most odd one out when it comes to Ghibli x IMAX because all other Ghibli films that were released in IMAX have senses of "magic" and/or "grandeur" even if some of them are a bit more subtle about them whereas this one doesn't. It's basically a regular drama film that explores the life of a middle schooler who tries to become a writer. I suppose some of the imagination scenes work well in IMAX, but as for the rest, that might depend on preferences of ones who watch the film. Besides, my opinion here might be coming from a VERY biased point of view as well since I watched this in IMAX only a day after watching Speed Racer in IMAX. 😅😅😅😅😅
But these are simply my opinions. How would you guys rank these films in terms of how well they work in IMAX and why? Also, while we're at it, what other Ghibli films would you guys like to see in IMAX in the future? Personally, I would pick these ones:
- Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind
- Laputa: Castle in the Sky
- My Neighbor Totoro
- Porco Rosso
- Spirited Away
- The Cat Returns
- Howl's Moving Castle
- Ponyo
- The Tale of the Princess Kaguya
Tier list on which 'Toy Story' film each main character(s) would prefer the most.
To say that Toy Story is THE biggest animated film franchise would be an infinite understatement. Ever since the first film came out, the franchise continuously released one great film after another with every single films in the franchise turning out to be a financial AND critical successes. Now that Toy Story 5 turned out to be another great entry to the franchise (shouldn't be a surprise given who directed it), it's about time that I create a tier list on which films main characters would prefer the most. Feel free to ask any questions about my picks. I will answer them as much as I can.
P.S. The fact that first and second film weren't even nominated for Best Picture Oscar just goes on to show how terrible this world truly is. If there was any justice in this world, first three films would've easily, Easily, EASILY won Best Picture without even breaking a sweat. 😤😤😤😤😤
I know that I'm VERY late on this, but I watched 'Arrietty' in IMAX, and...
...my opinion on this film has not changed since the last time I've seen it during Ghibli Fest. It's such a beautiful little(?) film that is delightfully small-scaled and yet, still feels larger than life.
To reiterate what I've said back then, while there aren't a whole lot to say about this film since it's not exactly the most eventful film in existence, it's such a simple story about Sho and Arrietty with one about to have a surgery in a week and the other being a Borrower who has been living under Sho's grandmother's house with her family for quite some time. There are even some Hayao Miyazaki-inspired scenes too, especially the scene where Arrietty is going "downstairs" on some sort of a pulley. Kind of unfortunate that Hiromasa Yonebayashi is no longer at Ghibli and I know that Studio Ponoc's feature films didn't exactly do well at the box office, but I hope that Yonebayashi continues to make films. In fact, I DID hear that he's already working on one.
Normally, I watch Ghibli's fantasy films in English (unless it was directed by Isao Takahata like Pom Poko was), but I decided to watch this in Japanese for one very simple reason - American version is likely to be inferior to British version. Like, the latter has Saoirse Ronan, Mark Strong, Olivia Colman, and Tom Holland as his film debut, but that version is STILL not available in the United States. And there's also the fact that even though the film is set in Japan, American version decided to give English names to human characters as well even though Japanese writings are still there whereas British versions didn't make such changes. I have no idea why they decided to go that route because this kind of thing has never happened before or since.
Now, if British version of the film gets released in the United States as well, will I watch it? Oh, absolutely. I'm willing to believe that British version is substantially better than American version and I really hope that GKIDS manages to get distributions rights someday. In fact, lack of British version is the only reason why I still haven't started my Ghibli Blu-ray collection yet - and I really, Really, REALLY want to since Ghibli is the most trustworthy anime studio out there and has made so many outstanding films including this one. And you know that I will try to watch every single Ghibli films in cinemas whenever possible. Finally, before anyone asks, yes, the animation is outstanding, what else did you expect from fricking Ghibli? 😁😁😁😁😁
One more question left to answer is, does this film work well in IMAX? Yes. Yes, it does. While the film is practically set in a single house, it does a great job at making the setting look bigger than it actually is, especially when the film focuses on Arrietty and her family along with some of the more "kinetic" scenes in the film. The fact that the animation is excellent helps a lot too and sound designs are some of the best that I've encountered in a Ghibli film. Overall, I'd say this certainly works better in IMAX than Whisper of the Heart does.
At this point, I should be expecting a new Ghibli x IMAX release right? But... I can't do that because GKIDS decided to bring back Ghibli Fest that will go on from June to October, meaning that I will not be able to watch a new Ghibli film until I encounter what is known to be one of the worst Ghibli films ever made. 😞😞😞😞😞
My personal ranking of 4th rotation songs.
There's something a bit unusual about 4th rotation songs - 10 of them were released before 3rd anniversary and other 10 of them were released AFTER 3rd anniversary, meaning that Ichika, Saki, Minori, Airi, Kohane, An, Emu, Nene, Mafuyu, and Mizuki got 4 focus songs before 3rd anniversary whereas Honami, Shiho, Haruka, Shizuku, Akito, Toya, Tsukasa, Rui, Kanade, and Ena got 3. And I'll have to say that this rotation also has some pretty good songs including few possible post-3rd anniversary character songs. So without further ado, here's how I would rank 3rd rotation songs.
20. blender by Vivid BAD SQUAD and MEIKO - There's only one reason why this song is ranked this low - it's too short. Really a shame too because otherwise, this is a great song and my current choice as a post-3rd anniversary song that captures Toya's "inner feelings" the best.
19. The peachy key by MORE MORE JUMP! and Megurine Luka - This is pretty unusual for Airi-focus song as this might actually be the only melancholy song that Airi has, especially given that all of her other songs are a lot happier than this, which is why this song is not ranked any higher. Is it still great, though? Oh, absolutely, especially with how it captures Airi's painful past of drifting away from her friends because of her idol career.
18. purpose by Leo/need and Kagamine Rin - It's probably the first Shiho-focus song, which might not be all that surprising given that the corresponding event story is about how she became so passionate about becoming part of a rock band. Also, does anyone find it kind of funny that Kagamine Rin was involved with Shiho-focus song twice in a row (Voices and this), but they both feel very different?
17. Coral by Wonderlands×Showtime and KAITO - While I don't actually consider this as Nene's character song (that would be Glory Steady Go!), I DO consider this as the song that captures Nene's "inner feelings" the best, especially with how she continuously moves forward to become a musical actress. Also, thanks to this, both MEIKO and KAITO were involved in Nene-focus unit songs after being involved in a RuiNene duet named Nijiiro Stories.
16. I'm the Rain by Nightcord at 25:00 and Kagamine Len - I wish I didn't have to rank this song this low, but I have to put them in some order. Ena-focus songs have been noted to include rain references from time to time, but this one really goes all out with that by making a lot of rain-related allegories regarding Ena. In fact, I'd even say that this is Ena's post-3rd anniversary character song.
15. Realize by Vivid BAD SQUAD and Hatsune Miku - While Kohane has better focus-songs, I still like this a lot as this is basically about her finally being proud of her singing skills. Also, something about this song kind of reminds me of Beat Eater, except this time, Kohane seems to be truly part of street music.
14. CYBERPUNK DEAD BOY by Wonderlands×Showtime and Kagamine Rin - This is a very unusual song by WonderShow standards as this is has very blatant electronic instrumental. The song is also known to have lyrics related to social commentary, which might sound unusual for WonderShow since that seems to be more like a VBS or N25 territory, but live theaters and musicals were apparently known for including social/political commentaries in their stories, so I guess lyrics of this song might not be as weird as it looks.
13. Engeki (Theatre) by Nightcord at 25:00 and Megurine Luka - This is known to be one of the saddest focus songs as it's basically about Mafuyu finally breaking free from her POS mother's filthy grasp, but at the cost of near-permanently running away from home, especially if the corresponding event story is any indication. Even the corresponding trained card really shows you this as Mafuyu is seen cutting strings that have been controlling her all this time.
12. hug by MORE MORE JUMP! and Kagamine Len - Possible plant motifs again? Well, I'm not complaining because I think they fit very well with Shizuku. I'll even say that this is my pick for Shizuku's post-3rd anniversary character song.
11. Hoshi wo Tsunagu (Connecting the Stars) by Leo/need and KAITO - I don't have a specific reason to like this song this much. I just really like it. If I have to come up with one reason, maybe it's because it's about Leo/need finally stepping into a bigger world.
10. kitty by Nightcord at 25:00 and Kagamine Len - People tend to forget that Mizuki and Mafuyu both share a similarity of having certain secrets that they're hesitant about opening up, which could also explain why the corresponding event story involves the two going to SpoJoy Park together, the same place where Kanade Ena went together before - but with Ichika and Minori back then, so that also says quite a bit about their situations. Also, did anyone else notice that the city that is depicted in that corresponding trained card might've actually been destroyed?
9. filament fever by Wonderlands×Showtime and MEIKO - I pick this as Tsukasa's post-3rd anniversary character song because of how cheerful it sounds AND continuously moving forward to achieve his dream along with everyone else's while also acknowledging that future will always have rough moments. Also, the guy who made this song would later make another one, but for Saki this time. We'll... talk about that one on another time.
8. Aioi (Growing Up Together) by Leo/need and MEIKO - Not to anyone's surprise, Saki got another lighthearted focus song. Once again, I don't have a specific reason why I like this song so much. I just think it's so cheerful like her personality as she continues to move forward to the future with her friends.
7. Supernova by MORE MORE JUMP! and KAITO - It took more than a year for Haruka to finally get her focus song and you know what? It paid off because this one slaps. Like, Haruka went full-on coolness-infused tomboy with this and I say that as a compliment. In fact, I actually see this as Haruka's post-3rd anniversary character song.
6. Retainer Supplanting His Lord by Vivid BAD SQUAD and Kagamine Rin - This is one dark and scary song, which isn't too surprising that this is related to a twist that An Shiraishi's mentor figure, Nagi Kotaki, has been dead for years and the entire Vivid Street kept this as a secret. Naturally, this flat-out devastated her at least partly because this is basically one of the first times when she had to face a VERY harsh reality of life. And yet, you can tell that she's actually even more resolute than before. In a way, I feel like this song is Captain America: The Winter Soldier of focus songs in that aspect as Captain America is even more resolute than before despite finding out that Hydra has been ruining the world that he saved.
5. Passion at 25:00 by Nightcord at 25:00 and KAITO - I consider this as Kanade's post-3rd anniversary character song thanks to warmth that is emanating from it similar to how her first focus song was. Like, it's as if Kanade is telling that, no matter where they are or what they become, they're always welcomed into the unit. Also, I think this is the first focus song to use fade-out.
4. Teammate by MORE MORE JUMP! and Kagamine Len - Considering that Minori-focus songs tend to be very cheerful, this one is a bit of an unusual one as this one feels calmer than others, though I think that makes sense given the corresponding event story related to how Minori will always cherish her friendship with every friends that she has no matter what happens. It's why I'd even say that this captures Minori's "inner feelings" the best.
3. CRAZY by Vivid BAD SQUAD and Megurine Luke - This is such an easy pick for Akito's post-3rd anniversary character song, especially with how it sounds like a LEGIT street music. Like, it has so much fire within right from the start. Speaking of fire, this is just a beginning because Akito's next focus song is THE force to be reckoned with. 😁😁😁😁😁
2. Kirapipi★Kirapika (Shining★Sparkling) by Wonderlands×Showtime and MEIKO - Emu-focus songs can be divided into two categories - very exciting and/or silly songs and calm songs with some melancholy elements with this song being 75% former and and 25% latter. The end result? An amazing musical song that closes the pre-3rd anniversary era of Project Sekai. Also, it seems like this song's corresponding trained card set is kind of based around fantasy video games, which is kind of ironic since Nene is actually the one who is associated with video games the most and yet, she still has no video game-themed focus song.
1. Regulus by Leo/need and KAITO - Remember when Honami was used to be one of, if not THE biggest emotional and mental wreckage among non-N25 characters to a point where she even admitted that she wanted to "disappear" at times? Well, look at where she is now. Not only she became an example of what a recovered N25 member would look like, but she also became the leader of Leo/need. It really goes back to Namor's words on how only the most broken people can become great leaders and because of that, until I get to see what Honami's 7th focus song is like, I'm going to consider this as the post-3rd anniversary song that captures Honami's "inner feelings" the best.
Just like last time, all of these are just my opinions and frankly, a lot of my reasonings probably suck. 😅😅😅😅😅 Either way, how would you rank 4th rotation songs and why?
Weird question. Between 'Angel's Clover' and 'DREAM PLACE', which one do you think fits better as Minori's character song?
Both of these are Minori-focus songs and they fit with her very well. While I currently consider Angel's Clover as Minori's character song, one could also argue that DREAM PLACE fits better (presumably because of more "idol music"-esque instrumentals). So between these two, which one do you think fits better as Minori's character song and why? As a reference, I'll post links to both songs:
If it's neither, which one would you pick and why?
I'm trying to create a trigger where 'The Frozen Throne' Lich has 1/15 chance of appearing if you try to summon Lich from Altar of Darkess. How do I do this?
Not too long ago, I have discovered that Lich has two versions - Reign of Chaos version and The Frozen Throne version. While they have no actual differences, former version is originated from Orc and latter version is originated from Human and out of all default-named Liches, one of them used to be Human. I'm trying to turn that Human-based Lich into its own thing and create a trigger in which you have 1/15 chance of getting that Human-based Lich if you try to summon a Lich from Altar of Darkness. How do I make that happen?
And speaking of which, I think there are 16 default-named Liches in the game. How many of them are canonically Human-based?
My personal ranking of 3rd rotation songs. (Reposted due to the previous version showing errors.)
I thought 3rd rotation songs were a bit weaker when compared to 2nd rotation, but that's only because 2nd rotation had so many bangers. On their own, 3rd rotation songs were still good overall and even had some character songs too. So without further ado, here's how I would rank 3rd rotation songs.
20. Float Planner by MORE MORE JUMP! and Kagamine Rin - Something has to be at the bottom and in this case, this became an unfortunate casualty of that. I still like the song overall and I'll leave it at that.
19. Give Me Your Night by Nightcord at 25:00 and Megurine Luka - Same as the above. I still like this song a lot because of how calm and soothing it is. Also, thanks to this, Mizuki ended up gaining a reputation of being a main character who has focus songs that cover all tonal spectrums with this being one of more lighthearted N25 original songs, Lower one's eyes being pretty dark, and IDSMILE being somewhere in-between.
18. Hoshizora Orchestra (Starry Sky Orchestra) by Wonderlands×Showtime and Megurine Luka - Trust me, there are other WonderShow songs that I liked better than this, which is really the only reason why this is ranked so low. I still like this song overall because of the feeling of melancholy that it conveys.
17. Flyway by Leo/need and Kagamine Len - Another unfortunate casualty of a(n) unit having better 3rd rotation songs than this. Trust me, I still have no issues with this songs overall. In fact, I actually like how this showcases Honami's drumming(?) skills. Also, her focus songs seem to have some orchestra elements included as well. I wonder who is canonically in charge of that.
16. One Sheep by Vivid BAD SQUAD and MEIKO - I'd say that this one captures Kohane's "inner feelings" the best considering that she has a reputation of being rather timid, so I can see how she's basically going "Yeah, come at me, bro" with this song. Keep in mind, hamsters can be pretty aggressive. Also, here's a bonus fan video related to the song. 😁😁😁😁😁 (Please note that I did not create that one.)
15. Starry sky melody by Wonderlands×Showtime and MEIKO - This is the song that gave Nene a reputation of getting some of WonderShow's "calmer" focus songs. Also, it actually has surprising amount of rapping in some parts, so if you want to know one of the reasons why I tend to pair up WonderShow with VBS, there you go.
14. DREAM PLACE by MORE MORE JUMP! and MEIKO - So much cuteness. When I first listened to this song, I almost wondered if I should pick this as Minori's character song over Angel's Clover. It's just that I ultimately decided that song fit better with Minori than this did.
13. the WALL by Leo/need and Hatsune Miku - The song that captures Ichika's "inner feelings" the best given the event story that is associated with this song. Also, I can't be the only person who think(s) that this song has some level of cuteness added, which wouldn't surprise me since Ichika is basically a coolness-coded girl-next-door with no shortage of cuteness factors added into her.
12. City by Vivid BAD SQUAD and Kagamine Rin - If anyone thought that this sounded unusually cute for An-focus song, that's because this is about how she cherishes growing up on Vivid Street. It's also why I would pick this as the song that captures An's "inner felings" the best.
11. bug by Nightcord at 25:00 and Kagamine Len - Ah, yes. One of the most infamously dark focus songs. I'd even name this as Mafuyu's character song as it's basically about how her mental state is in utter shambles. In fact, you'll notice that she has been consistently getting dark and bleak focus songs even when compared to other N25 members.
10. What Sort of Ending Are You Wishing For? by Wonderlands×Showtime and Hatsune Miku - This one really captures Rui's "inner feelings" the best. Like, the guy might look like an unhinged ragebaiter on surface and to be fair, he IS that, but he's also someone who hates being alone and given what happened in Rui3, this song really conveys what was happening in that event story. In fact, that's why we must NEVER forget saying this whenever this song is brought up. Altogether now - FUCK YOU, PUSU!!!!!
9. SHOW OFF by Leo/need and Hatsune Miku - This is the song that captures Saki's "inner feelings" the best given how she basically had to fight for her life for several years due to her illness. It really showed that Saki becoming the Wonderhoy Girl of Leo/need was no small feat considering her backstory. Also, this is the song that started the trend of Saki getting one dark focus song after getting one lighthearted focus song.
8. Hollow by Vivid BAD SQUAD and KAITO - Honestly, I like this song a lot despite questionable KAITO tuning. I'd even consider this as Toya's character song given how everything about this song just screams Toya including its corresponding trained card.
7. We are by MORE MORE JUMP! and Kagamine Len - So many things about this song really feels like a Shizuku's character song. Lyrics, vibes, corresponding trained card, and so many more. It also helps that the song itself is very good overall.
6. I am you by Nightcord at 25:00 and Hatsune Miku - Yup. I declare this as Ena's character song because of how the song itself and its corresponding trained card captures so many aspects about Ena including her passion for art AND her overall personality. It's also notable for being pretty much the only lighthearted and fast-paced focus song that N25 ever has, which I suppose isn't too surprising since Ena is probably the least mentally unstable character in the unit.
5. Mr. Showtime by Wonderlands×Showtime and Megurine Luka - The song that captures Tsukasa's "inner feelings" the best. If you thought this one felt darker than his previous focus songs, that's because it's basically related to Tsukasa pushing his limits even further than before. It really goes on to show how determined he truly is. Also, out of all songs where Wonderhoy appears, this is the only time when that word(?) is spoken rather than shouted.
4. Voices by Leo/need and Kagamine Rin - Yup. The song that captures Shiho's "inner feelings" the best. As far as my understanding goes, Leo/need was keep getting underestimated at the time, so I can imagine that this would convey Shiho's feelings of wanting Leo/need to be treated like a proper rock band. Also, this might be the first time when Shiho is wearing a skirt in a corresponding trained card, which is a bit ironic considering that this is basically a metal song.
3. Parasol Cider by MORE MORE JUMP! and Megurine Luka - Yup. Airi's character song. It feels so energetic just like Airi herself, which isn't surprising given her backstory and how she has a fond memory related to it despite also going through struggles related to that. Also, it turned out that Airi's favorite season is summer, so this one fits as her character song even more so than it did before.
2. Kashika (suspended animation) by Vivid BAD SQUAD and MEIKO - This might sound more like a Toya-focus song than an Akito-focus song because of how it sounds, but that's the thing - because of that, this ironically captures Akito's "inner feelings" the best. Remember, despite being tough outside AND inside, he still has a delicate side too as he had to try so much harder than anyone else to even get to where he is now in terms of singing skills, especially when everyone else in the unit have immense talent for singing and/or music.
1. Samsa by Nightcord at 25:00 and KAITO - They saved the best until last. This song is basically Kanade's declaration of NEVER backing down from Mafuyu's mother's thinly veiled threat of cutting ties with Mafuyu, showing that Kanade is so much more strong-willed than she looks on the surface and that Mafuyu's mother stepped on a thin ice when she criminally underestimated her. Again, she should be glad that she was speaking to Kanade and not anyone else because they would flat-out see her despicable nonsense right through.
Just like last time, all of these are just my opinions and frankly, a lot of my reasonings probably suck. 😅😅😅😅😅 Either way, how would you rank 3rd rotation songs and why?
P.S. Can we please get a new Rui3 song preferably by LonePi?
I Nearly Died! (Note: This is NOT an angst material.)
Which of the 20 main characters do you think has the best eating habit overall?
I’ve already created a tier list based around that, but I would still like to hear your thoughts on your picks for the character with best eating habit. In fact, who would you guys pick for having the best eating habit and why?
P.S. I’m not going to bother asking about the character with the worst eating habit since, one, that could end up resulting in a flame war, and two, the only true answer is so obvious - it’s that purple-haired ragebaiter who doesn’t like watermelon whose name I will not utter here. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Can you get infected with HIV from a drink contaminated with blood if you have an open wound in your mouth?
What happened was that, at a workplace, I left my Coca Cola Zero unattended for a while and when I got back, someone was sitting nearby and placed their Diet Coke right next to my drink (I used "their" to leave that person's identity as private as possible) and I still ended up finishing my Coca Cola Zero. The concern that I have here is that the person who placed their Diet Coke right next to my drink might've accidentally drank mine and contaminated the drink with blood coming from their open mouth wound and I currently have an open wound in my mouth. Is it possible that I might've been infected with HIV from Coca Cola Zero due to HIV that got mixed in Coca Cola Zero and making contact with an open wound in my mouth?
Focus songs that feels like odd ones out when compared to each characters' other focus songs.
Basically, these are collections of focus songs that I kind of feel like they sound or feel different from respective characters' usual focus songs. I don't expect everyone to agree with my picks, but I will explain why I picked those.
- Ichika Hoshino = Made to Order - Ichika's focus songs tend to be pretty fast-paced, but this one is surprisingly calm and slow. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if this is one of the slowest focus songs currently in existence.
- Saki Tenma = Suresure (On the Verge) - Pretty much the same reason as Made to Order. I know that Saki has dark focus songs, but they still tend to be pretty fast-paced, but this one isn't.
- Honami Mochizuki = Regulus - I know that Honami is no stranger to fast-paced focus songs (STAGE OF SEKAI, anyone?), but they still tend to feel like they follow certain patterns. This one, on the other hand, sounds like it could get misidentified as someone else's focus song, though considering the song's corresponding event, I guess it's not that unusual that Honami would get this kind of song for once.
- Shiho Hinomori = Going On as We Are - Oh, man. I don't think it's easy to expect that a Shiho-focus song would be filled with so much cuteness. Like's Shiho is usually a maximum coolness-coded girl, but here, she emanates a lot of cuteness. In fact, go ahead and check out her other focus songs and you'll notice the difference immediately.
- Minori Hanasato = Teammate - As always, this is another fast-paced Minori-focus songs, but this one sounds a little bit calmer than her other focus songs likely because of how this is about her potentially moving away from her old(?) friends. But it's still Minori, so of course, it's not actually a sad song. 🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹
- Haruka Kiritani = Supernova - This sounds more like a song that belongs to Vivid BAD SQUAD than MORE MORE JUMP!, but I can see how this would fit well with Haruka. First, she DOES look kind of like a tomboy-coded girl at times and second, she's An Shiraishi's friend, so it's not hard to imagine that she would at least be familiar with kind of songs that An is likely to prefer.
- Airi Momoi = The peachy key - This song is the biggest reason why this (useless) thread even exists. I know that Airi-focus songs can be energetic or calm, but they usually all sound like happy songs overall. This one, on the other hand, feels more bittersweet by comparison even if it ultimately has a happy ending. Say... did Iyowa collaborate with Don Bluth when making this?
- Shizuku Hinomori = Hashiru! Tooku! Todoku! (Running! To Reach! Somewhere Far Away!) - Man, that's a pretty long title. But anyway, Shizuku-focus songs usually sound pretty calm, but this one feels a lot more energetic when compared to others. Almost as if it could fit well with Minori or at least Airi too.
- Kohane Azusawa = One Sheep - Kohane-focus songs tend to involve at least some amount of cuteness with few of them even going all-out with cuteness, but this one has no cuteness - it's a pure 100% aggression and not even ULTRA C would behave like this. I'm guessing that it still fits well with her since hamsters, which Kohane is frequently associated with, are actually pretty aggressive.
- An Shiraishi = Retainer Supplanting His Lord - Ah, yes. The darkest non-N25 focus-song in existence. An is usually a pretty fun-loving character, but this one being this dark is not surprising considering the event that the song is associated with. Like, it sounds AND feels very different when compared to Awake Now, Blazing, or CRASH THE PARTY.
- Akito Shinonome = Kashika (suspended animation) - This is probably the only Akito-focus song that shows no sign of aggression likely because it's basically about how he came a long way to become a skilled singer. As we all know, Akito was apparently borderline abysmal at singing when he first started his music career(?), so it makes sense that this would convey feelings associated with that.
- Toya Aoyagi = RAD DOGS - Oh, yes. The only aggressive Toya-focus song in existence as of today. It's not all that surprising because the corresponding event covers Toya's upbringing and the parental conflict resulted from that. And does anyone think it's kind of ironic that ONE Toya-focus song that has classical music-inspired instrumental would be the most aggressive one?
- Tsukasa Tenma = 88☆彡 - Another classical music-coded focus song? Honestly, I'm fine with it since WonderShow DOES fit pretty well with that too. Also, this was a pretty hard one to pick because Tsukasa-focus songs have a lot of energy regardless of their tone and this one is no different. The reason why I ultimately went with this one is because it sounds at least somewhat more "sentimental" when compared to others. Also, I kind of find it funny that both him and Toya got classical music-coded focus songs, but this sounds so much happier by comparison. I guess upbringing can really make differences.
- Emu Otori = All-Save Challenge - Girlboss Emu. Enough said. 😎😎😎😎😎
- Nene Kusanagi = Glory Steady Go! - Nene-focus songs tend to be pretty calm or feels more operatic, but this one feels a lot more fun-loving by comparison, which shouldn't be a surprise since this is created by Kinoshita. Do you know what the real kicker is? This is probably pretty "calm" by Kinoshita standards. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
- Rui Kamishiro = What Sort of Ending Are You Wishing For? - Pretty much every single Rui-focus songs have a lot of energy, but this one feels a lot calmer and sadder. That's not too much of a surprise considering that this one deals with Rui's biggest emotional conflict. Oh, and once again - FUCK YOU, PUSU!!!!!
- Kanade Yoisaki = D/N/A - The only Kanade-focus song that sounds pretty chaotic. Not even Samsa sounded this aggressive.
- Mafuyu Asahina = Jackpot Sad Girl - If you ignore how bleak this song's lyrics are, this could even sound like a Tsukasa-focus song with all those jazz-inspired instrumentals. Similar to Tsukasa, I had a hard time picking one for Mafuyu because they're all infamously dark.
- Ena Shinonome = I am you - This is probably the closest example of fast-paced lighthearted focus song that we're probably ever going to get from Nightcord at 25:00. I suppose Ena getting one makes sense since she's probably the "least dark" character in the unit and she was able to mostly get hold of herself (is that the right description?) by Ena2, so there's that too. Also, can we get another Ena-focus song that sounds like this, except longer?
- Mizuki Akiyama = Bake no Hana (Monstrous Flower) - Oh, no. THE darkest and bleakest original song ever. The polar opposite of Theme of Niccori^^ Survey Team. Even when compared to Mizuki's other focus songs, this one is nothing but pure chaos, despair, and rage.
But all of these are simply my opinions. Which focus songs would you say are odd one out for respective characters when compared to their other focus songs and why?
P.S. Can we please get a new Rui3 song preferably by LonePi?
Tier list on how often main characters use swear words (mostly in private) and how strong their "usual swear words" are.
I decided to create a tier list based around this thread:
https://old.reddit.com/r/ProjectSekai/comments/1q3kaax/would_proseka_characters_curse/
I know that I didn't word some of the tiers properly, but when I say R-rated ones, I mean ones that will surely result in a film getting rated R in the United States or 15 in the United Kingdom if they're used frequently.
And obviously, characters are more likely to use swear words as they go from left to right.
My tier list on main characters' favorite seasons.
I decided to post my own take after seeing this about a month ago:
https://old.reddit.com/r/ProjectSekai/comments/1sotmjh/favourite_seasons_tier_list/
I definitely have some different takes from what the original poster went with (that and I also based some of my picks on feedbacks on the comment section), so feel free to write your own take on this.
P.S. Be respectful and please don't attack me for this! 😨😨😨😨😨
My tech tree ideas for Tanguts, Xianbei, and Siamese (along with altered tech tree for Khitans and Wei - and some corrections too).
I always wanted Three Kingdoms DLC to be corrected someday - or at least have another Asia-based DLC that corrects some of the more glaring errors:
https://old.reddit.com/r/aoe2/comments/1nkvyat/ill_be_honest_i_kind_of_wish_that_they_make/
...and here are my asinine ideas on tech trees (and corrections) for Wei, Khitans, Tanguts, Xianbei, and Siamese. Keep in mind, a lot of these ideas are not completed.
Wei:
Replace Xianbei Raider with Wuhuan Reider. Stats remains the same.
Replace the Wonder with something else and give the current Wonder to Xianbei.
Jurchens:
- Have units speaking either Jurchen language or Manchurian language.
Khitans:
Loses an access to Stone Wall and Mounted Trebuchet.
Castle design gets altered to something that is more akin to nomadic castle with the current design given to Tanguts.
Tanguts:
Doesn't have an access to Fortified Wall, Keep, Architect, Arrowslit, and Bombard Cannon.
Gains an access to Mounted Trebuchet.
Xianbei:
Only Civilization with nomadic architecture to show that they came before Khitans and Mongols.
Doesn't have an access to almost all University techs aside from ones that are available to all other Civilizations.
Doesn't have an access to Stone Wall, Guard Tower, Bracers, Onager, Fast Fire Ship, Galleon, Heavy Scorpion, Carrack, Bombard Tower, Bombard Cannon, Hand Cannoneer, and so on.
Xianbei Raider design becomes its unique unit design with its name altered. It's great at attacking buildings.
Builds Pasture instead of Farm and House is named Yurt.
Castle design is a ruined castle with Yurts placed here and there.
Siamese:
Has an access to all University techs aside from Keep.
Elephant and Gunpowder Civilization.
That's all I have so far. Keep in mind, I know jack shit about Xianbei people, so you can add some of your own ideas if you wish to do so.

Also, are there some sort of criteria on which cover songs will get 2DMV? Or is it just random?
And while we're at it, what other cover songs would you like to see getting a 2DMV in the future?
My idea on a more "lighthearted" version of Nightcord at 25:00.
Basically, I'm using N25 members to create a more lighthearted version of the said unit in a way that their songs are still usually dark, but members themselves are not (at least when compared to their original versions). Kind of like Roselia from BanG Dream!, if you will (if that's the right comparison).
"Music runs in the House of Yoisaki."
"Ever since the history of Japan was written, my family always had immense talent in music and they would be able to perform variety of music depending on their personalities."
"And so do I."
Kanade Yoisaki - She's still reserved and quiet, but definitely much happier than the original version (kind of like a cross between her original personality and World Link 2 personality). At the beginning of the story, she graduated (from) a music college with top marks at the age of mere 16 and is trying to find her own music. Obviously, both of her mom and dad are alive and well and are very supportive of her with her dad being a renowned film and TV series score composer. Her only pain is the fact that her grandfather on her mother's side, who was also a renowned musician, passed away at the age of 76 due to an unspecified illness a year before graduation. While her musical talent is unparalleled (at least among main characters), she's kind of stupid when it comes to other aspects as she entered the college at the very young age. Her home is a large Japanese-style mansion and her room looks like a Japanese version (if that's the right way to describe it) of the original version of her room.
Ena Shinonome - A family friend of Kanade. In fact, Yoisaki household and Shinonome household are pretty close to each other and Ena is essentially the reason why Kanade didn't feel alone when she was in college as they spent so much time with each other. She's very interested in yamikawaii fashion and while her dad is kind of strict, he's in good terms with his children. Her relationship with Akito is mostly the same as the original.
Mizuki Akiyama - Aside from few details (like having no identity issue), Mizuki is pretty much the same from the original. While her grades are consistently solid, some don't exactly like her because she's an infamous troll and keeps on ditching classes because she can't be bothered.
Mafuyu Asahina - She probably has the biggest personality difference from the original version among 4 members. Her "outside self" is mostly the same as the original, but her "true self" is a lot more comical as she likes really dark, bleak, and depressing media (in fact, she spends most of her free time enjoying those stuffs and her room is filled with posters and collections of such things including a poster of a film that clearly reeks of Terrifier) and on top of that, she has such a blatant "middle school syndrome". Her parents are okay with Mafuyu being like that, but they do have ONE concern - outside the school, she's LAZY! In fact, her parents always tell her that she should start thinking about her future, but she's too lazy to find one. Kind of like a "darker" version of Umaru Doma.
SEKAI - Their SEKAI is Gothic Mansion SEKAI originated from Kanade's heart. VS variants in this SEKAI look pretty similar to VS variants of Empty SEKAI from the original except Miku's hair is clearly teal (and their clothes are in better shape) and their personality, while still calm, is much closer to original VS members, though KAITO is still a bit strict. Main VS members are Miku, Rin, and Len.
In the end, they manage to form their own unit and when Kanade says that her friends are going to work on a lot of "dark music", her family are okay with this and even give the said unit their blessings - and Mafuyu's parents even thank Kanade for helping their daughter to finally have a vision for her future.
Kanade: "We're going to be a fully independent music quartet and this will not be an easy path. Our music will be dark and thoughtful music about the meaning of life and death along with other subjects as well, but with a sense of hope included in ways that they can heal inner wounds of people who listen to our music - and yes, Mafuyu, we WILL work on some very bleak music too from time to time, so don't you worry. So without further ado, are you ready to give it all... for Nocturnal Nightingales? 😎😎😎😎😎"
Ena, Mizuki, and Mafuyu: "We're ready as you are! 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩"
Yeah, sorry for a massive rambling, but I just wanted to get my idea out on what if N25 members had more "lighthearted" backgrounds and personalities. 😅😅😅😅😅
Two focus songs created by respective same composers! Which ones do you prefer between the two?
Note: I might've misspelled or misnamed(?) some of the producers' names. I apologize in advance.
Sometimes, a producer ends up working on two different focus songs. These examples include:
- Nayutalien: MORE! JUMP! MORE! and Opera! Space Opera!
- R Sound Design: Forward and blender (with Komedawara)
- 40mP: Color of Drops and Connecting the Stars (with Hifumi)
- Sasanomaly: Kanadetomosusora and Transmitting Temperature
- Takaaki Natsushiro: From Tokyo (with Takuya Watanabe) and Killer (with Heavenz)
- Police Piccadilly: Beat Eater and Eleventh
- aqu3ra (also known as Aqu3ra): icedrop and Transparent Palette
- Yunosuke: Awake Now and Supernova (with haruno)
- Karasuya-sabou: Showtime Ruler and Polar Star
- nulut: Lower one's eyes and EYELID
- TOKOTOKO: Worldwide Wander and The Place Closest to the Stars
- WONDERFUL★OPPORTUNITY!: Theme of Niccori^^ Survey Team and Seibai ItaAAAAAsu!
- NILFRUITS: Tricologe and Haven
- Chinozo: Flyer! and Anti you
- Mikito-P: Peaky Peaky and Colorful Foundation
- jon-YAKITORY: City and Fighter
- ShishiShishi: Hollow and The Puppet's Reality
- Ryo Haruka: Kashika and Wings of Song (Full version will not be available until further notice)
- Guiano: We are and Voice of the Beam
- Yuri Kuriyama: filament fever and Flower Knot
I didn't add Gohan Harumaki's songs because Moonlight was apparently largely made by another producer.
In any case, between these songs, which ones do you like better respectively and why? As for me:
- Nayutalien: Opera! Space Opera! for sure. Not only it actually feels like a Nayutalien song, but it really IS Emu's post-3rd anniversary character song.
- R Sound Design: blender by a pretty small margin. I feel like this one really captures Toya's "deeper thoughts" post-3rd anniversary.
- 40mP: Another hard one. I'm picking Color of Drops.
- Sasanomaly: Kanadetomosusora. It's basically what I consider as Kanade's character song.
- Takaaki Natsushiro: From Tokyo. I see this one as Saki's character song.
- Police Piccadilly: Beat Eater. I'm really digging this one.
- aqu3ra: Transparent Palette. I view this one as Honami's post-3rd anniversary character song.
- Yunosuke: Oof! This one's so difficult to figure out since I see Awake Now as An's character song and Supernova as Haruka's post-3rd anniversary character song. By a very small margin, I'm picking Supernova.
- Karasuya-sabou: Yeah, this one's too easy. Showtime Ruler is Rui's character song, so it easily wins.
- nulut: EYELID mostly because this one feels more catchy.
- TOKOTOKO: As much as I feel like The Place Closest to the Stars captures Honami's "deeper thoughts" post-3rd anniversary, I have to give this one to Worldwide Wander.
- WONDERFUL★OPPORTUNITY!: Guys. This one's too obvious. Theme of Niccori^^ Survey Team is THE Emu song. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
- NILFRUITS: Haven. I see this as Toya's post-3rd anniversary character song.
- Chinozo: Flyer! since I feel like that one is Kohane's character song.
- Mikito-P: Yeah, Peaky Peaky is indeed PEAK. It's basically Shiho's character song.
- jon-YAKITORY: Hmm... this one's tricky, but I'll pick City for this one.
- ShishiShishi: The Puppet's Reality because as much as like Hollow and sees that as Toya's character song, its KAITO tuning isn't very well done. Besides, I see the former as Rui's post-3rd anniversary character song.
- Ryo Haruka: Since Wings of Song doesn't have a full version yet, it's kind of hard to judge which one is better, but for now, I'm going to go with Kashika. If that song gets a full version, I'll let you guys know in the comment section.
- Guiano: Another tough one since I view We are as Shizuku's character song and Voice of the Beam as Kohane's post-3rd anniversary character song. Once again, by a pretty small margin, I'm picking Voice of the Beam.
- Yuri Kuriyama: Yeah, I'm easily picking filament fever on the ground that I see that song as Tsukasa's post-3rd anniversary character song.
But these are simply my takes, so now you guys can pick ones that you liked better.
P.S. Be respectful and please don't attack me for this! 😨😨😨😨😨
We usually associate Kohane Azusawa as an example of how looks can be very deceiving, but I just realized that there's another character who can fit into that - and that character is Emu Otori.
At first glance, Emu is probably one of the silliest, most childish, and the craziest madgirls in the entire game - and to be fair, she IS indeed that, but she's also very wholesome and frighteninigly intelligent and this is very important because characters like her tend to be pretty stupid, but Emu went against that trope by having her to be highly intelligent (academically, in fact). But there's also another side of her that people tend to forget about - she can be surprisingly mature when necessary.
Yes, both of these cards depict the exact same person. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
As you can see here, while Emu is usually VERY silly, there are times when she puts on a "mature face" including when she does a business presentation like what's depicted in the left card. And this isn't the only example when Emu was depicted to be surprisingly mature as it happened in World Link 3. >!What happened in that event was that a girl named Mimi was having an emotional crisis after passing of her grandmother and Emu was there to comfort her by telling a story about how she also had a moment of emotional crisis quite a while after her grandfather passed away, but was able to move on and how she came to terms with a loss that she experienced. I usually see Emu as a high intelligence and low wisdom build, but moments like that make(s) me question if Emu truly lacks wisdom after all.!<
I honestly find it fascinating that how a character who seems to be such a silly AND crazy maniac can also be surprisingly mature at times. It really goes on to show that Project Sekai knows how to make characters more stand out than just being well-known character archetypes.
What do you guys think?
P.S. Be respectful and please don't attack me for this! 😨😨😨😨😨
Do you think we'll get profiles for Rinha Kaya, Nadeshiko Aoi, and so on?
As of now, we don't have a whole lot of details about their profiles.
