We made different menus that change throughout the story :D

We made our menu change throughout the story! My partner (who is also the coder/writer of our VN) wanted to show off some of the art more, especially since some scenes only last a few seconds. (I weep every time I watch an animated show and I see a beautiful establishing shot only shown for less than 5 seconds!! 😭). He made these menus in between me drawing the art :)

Our VN is called "Lap of the Gods" on Steam if you are interested btw 🌟

I'm obsessed with different ways to design and animate non-human characters, I wish I could've made more!! 😭These characters are from Lap of the Gods the Visual Novel on Steam btw :)

I love object-head designs but I rarely see them actually utilized in media... I see them mostly on the internet only... I wonder why that is 😭

Some backgrounds I made for our indie visual novel game, Lap of the Gods. Each piece was done in Clip Studio Paint :)

hi there! So I've always really liked object-headed characters and the idea of their heads being animated was too good to pass. There is so much versatility to them, compared to human designs who can blink at most without you having to animate the rest of their bodies to express movement (I've also never loved the look of tweening for my art either...). All characters here have static bodies but animated heads, which I think helps our visual novel to look lively :D

I have never animated anything before this (yes I'm serious... I have been drawing in other ways for about 10 years though) and therefore I animated like 6 versions of Scorial's looping smoke to grasp the basics of animation 😭 everything was animated in Clip Studio Paint EX

Our visual novel is called "Lap of the Gods" on Steam if you are interested btw :) https://store.steampowered.com/app/3138230/Lap_of_the_Gods_A_Visual_Novel/

Hi! So I've recently cranked out a bunch of art with Ver. 1 of CSP. I didn't decide to upgrade to the most recent version until the tail end of the visual novel because i was getting fed up with the lagging some brushes caused lol.

So for most of my works I used a crunchy lineart brsh for the backgrounds and keep the lineart on its own separate layer. Then I flat everything. I used layer modes [Multiply, Glow Dodge, or Hard Light] to darken or add light to fit the mood that I want. I cel-shade everything on a Multiply layer mode with the g-pen brush since it's simple and easy to control. After the shading is blocked in, I go back and texture the shading with either hand-made strokes or use textured stamps [I enjoy "Noisy Noise Generator" by saturns_day on CSP asset store). I then and go and do the same thing for extra shading and highlights. Layer modes are your friends!!

I also like to use all sorts of 3D models when sketching :) placing human models is great for getting an idea of the perspective and height of buildings. I was also approaching my deadline when working on this visual novel so the other models on the asset store page also helped me work faster haha.

The only thing not created in CSP were the textbox icons. Those are pixel art done is Asesprite instead.

The visual novel is called "Lap Of The Gods" on Steam if anyone is interested. Thanks for reading!! : )
