This is such a fascinating defence mechanism. I didn’t even see them at first, I was passing by and had a jump scare.

That’s certainly the most creative use of a Cicada exoskeleton I’ve ever seen.

I had such a hard time with this, years ago. All the photos I took were blurry, lighting was bad, and I was too far away. Tried to add a lot of contrast to pick up on the wing details. I hope one of these days Mother Nature will give me another chance now that I’m slightly more experienced.
