Five O Trivia Night

Is anyone here interested in participating in a Five O trivia night if we had enough interest?

There’s a trivia sub we where we could learn how to do it. We’d probably need six or eight volunteers to moderate and come up with questions.

What do you guys think?

Works Cited

Expanding on a question posed earlier by u/dridulas, has anyone here compounded a list of various works referenced in the OA so we can keep the hunt alive? If not, do y’all mind if we poke at that this week for a bit before school starts back up?

Another New Theory ***Spoiler ‼️ ***

In light of the Aspect Ratio Theory u/mixmaxze posted a few days ago, I thought I’d rewatch (my first rewatch in three years, spurred on by the recent optimism). While trying to understand the aspect ratio, I noticed that what I’ve been calling D1 (the dimension of Prairie with her parents) is in a bluer tone, almost like other films and shows have used for a “before” effect. The color of season two is dramatically different.

What if what we’ve been referring to as D1 is actually the mirror dimension that is the possibility of what could happen if an unknown event doesn’t? (I’m not explaining that well. Let me try again.)

What if what is supposed to really happen with Nancy and Abel is Nancy’s reality from season two, where she’s happily living with her adopted son and Prairie is never involved…

That would mean Nina is the reality (Prairie is holding Nina captive in season 2 by suppressing her).

This needs work but I thought I’d throw it out here because the more we talk about things, the bigger the hope, right?

No Power to Connect to WiFi?

About two hours ago, the Nest thermostat started flashing that it was restarting and now says it doesn’t have enough power to connect to WiFi (which is working fine).

I’m in Central Florida. It’s hot as, well, I think you can imagine. What the heck is wrong with it? I am pretty sure the HVAC installers wired it directly into the wires that were there from the old thermostat (dumb thermostat that was thirty years old). Help! I beg you…

UPDATE: I pulled it off the wall and plugged it into one of the phone chargers. (Mine was an Android charger bc it’s a third gen. It charged and was blinking green. Out it back on the wall, held it down for 10 seconds, it restarted and voilà!

MMR Booster

I said in a different thread in this sub that I’d report back with my MMR booster reaction. I think we were talking shingles, as per youge.

I got it yesterday, and it hurt like a muthahfathah but after 24 hours I only have a runny nose. Feel like a great nap is in store for me soon. No fever or other reactions so far.

I got it because I didn’t have chxpox until I was 31, and it nearly put me in the hospital. There’s a measles outbreak near me and I figured it would be a shame to die of rubella without having written a novel about it.

I’ll keep you posted but aside from the actual shot, I’m all good. Nite nite, termite.

48-hour update: I still don’t have any side effects (not even a sore arm like with shingles) BUT I wasn’t able to get to sleep last night. Like at all. This happens every once in a while so I’m not sure if it’s related. I’ll keep y’all posted. 🤙🏽

Pagers, Xers. Pagers.

I rewatched a series from my twenties and pagers are everywhere, not just drug dealers.

The first time I was allowed to have one was my summer job from college while I worked for a university/hospital. I was about 20.

I remember the codes we would send to each other and having to find a payphone within minutes of feeling the buzz. It was cool getting a zap from someone thinking about you, whether work or play. It stayed cool because you could go find a payphone and call back or wait. No one knew what was read and when or where you were; I suppose the cusp of where we are now.

That’s it. Boobs.

I heard a news story on the radio today about a clown and I remembered a lost gem about clowns and how we were so scared of them.

One of my favorite bands from the nineties, and I think their album was called Cereal Killers. To create….you must destroy!
