Travelling to Africa is unnecessary

When Europe is full of beautiful African women, looking for dates.

Something unexpected happened to me over the past two years. Anytime I travel to Spain, Portugal and France, among others, I end up getting a date with gorgeous African women.

I’ve dated Nigerians, Kenyans, Angolans, Madagascar, Moroccans, Ugandans, Mozambican women…

To me the benefits are:

- Closer to where I live, save on thousands in airfare
- Known places, good food, sunshine, basic safety and hygiene
- I know the bar and rooftop scenes in Barcelona, Lisbon or Nice
- Surprisingly the cost of food and drinks is not that much higher than some of the premium locations in Africa
- Near zero harassment or safety issues
- Generally better educated, more driven women. Deeper conversations, fewer gold diggers

One disadvantage of course is the size of the pool. You’ll likely get many more choices in Africa, but tbh, the ones I’ve seen here have all been drop dead gorgeous.

What’s your experience?

Like, but then no answer

52M, newish to the dating apps.

I get a like, we match and I send a message - sometimes a simple hello, sometimes a comment on a picture, and sometimes a bold statement that’s designed to evoke a reaction.

Why are these messages being ignored? I mean if you like someone, wouldn’t you want to hear from them?

Maybe I am too much of an old school guy.

50/50 on first dates

I am genuinely confused about the expectations from men dating in Europe and the US.

I am someone capable of and willing to pay for my dates, however the math is 80% of first dates never convert into a second date.

There’s a certain slice of dating app population that never intends to actually date, but use the platform as a means to procure free dinners or drinks at premium locations.

But proposing going Dutch on the first date can feel cold and lead to immediate unmatching.

So, how do you solve the dilemma? What’s a good way to set a filter, while keeping the flame going?

Valencia Jun-26 Field Report

Been here for a few days and as usual started marching via passport mode a week ago.

Pretty dry.

I tried matching with my age group, younger and older and it’s consistently failing.

For reference, I consider myself an experienced PPB, having dated in almost all continents (-Australia).

The women who do match are usually Colombian, Venezuelan, Peruvian immigrants working nanny or eldercare jobs. Their expectations are clear (financial), and sadly most are 4s or 5s at best.

No local personal meet so far. A few conversations, but they seem to peter out after the exchanging of the pleasantries. A few times I directly invited the match to a rooftop or dinner with a date and place, and invariably, after several hours or even days the response was I have to work tomorrow.

Not sure if in person interactions are better. I speak A2 level Spanish, so not very good, but even so dating in Argentina, Peru and Colombia has never been an issue.

A note about my evolving taste on Spanish women. I think I am starting to generally dislike most physical appearances here. A lot of women look very masculine and behave/write like men. Over exercised, over the top activities, looking at the pictures one gets the sense they don’t need a man or anyone. The responses generally lag, many hours, days (how do you deal with this?)

A whole category of overweight women don’t post a full body picture, which for me is a deal breaker.

Anyhow, I’d love to hear from someone who’s been successful and their tips on what to try next.

EDIT: White Caucasian, US based. 52-yrs, 6’1, 170lbs, 9/10 fit. Previous dating rates based on short/medium term in the US (both coasts), Argentina, Peru, Colombia, Brazil, Mexico, Costa Rica and Panama. European dating in London, Amsterdam, Lisbon and Geneva.

To wife or not to wife…that’s the question

"When I could have used a wife, I could not support one; and when I could support one, I no longer needed any." — Immanuel Kant

53, happily divorced for 10 years, enjoying the PPB lifestyle since…

Is there a point in getting married? For context, I can support a wife anywhere in the world.
