For pre medical students
Lowk, you guys will feel a ton of impostor syndrome, and most of the time, no one will be there for you. This isn't a rant post, but a guidance post. Here's the things you should do:-
- Actually see and learn a skill:-
I'm someone who is on a gap year for medschool and IA getting admission this year, but I used this gap year to enhance 2 skills, earning money and how to network, these aren't special skills but in this day and age, the bare minimum.
- Seek guidance:-
There are many kids who are oblivious of where to apply and what to do, it's best to seek guidance from a senior who has already gone through the process you are undergoing, that way you don't have to go through the bad hit and trial of this phase. Even a single yes is better than a no in the long run.
- Rant and reflect:-
This is an unofficial advice, but kindly rant to someone who is either enrolled in medschool, is doing good in their gap year or is in an entire different field like Engineering and all. Reflect on how much progress you do while studying, and kindly check out what you can and can't manage.
- Free resource>paid resource:-
Kindly don't fall for scams, try for free resources as much as you can, dm if you need free practice resources and lectures, and these are all courtesies as a senior, try out what suits you best but try to keep the finances low
- Any medschool:-
Any medschool is good enough as long as you work hard, I know doctors from Dow, KEMU, AKU, Shifa and AMC regret on their lives, while doctors from Baqai and Azra Naheed do USMLE and match into the USA as a fresher without doing housejob. Your own hardwork accounts for 90% of what you do, so kindly take what you can easily and don't stop the hardwork.
