Cap implications
Okay, can someone do the Puckpedia thing where we try to extrapolate how much we spend on others based on Mack’s deal? What is our cap situation looking like?
New additions & captaincy
Before our flurry of acquisitions, the consensus among pundits and fans was Celebrini is ready for the C.
Now we have Marchment, Trouba, and Nurse, the latter 2 who I could see taking on leadership roles.
Do you think there is a greater chance one of them takes the “C” for a season, or do you think Mack is just as likely to get it as before?
Brown shirted men with yellow assault rifle flags?
I was at Brandenburger Tor with a few friends today and we saw a group of men wearing brown shirts with German flag shoulder-patches, and they had a big yellow flag that I couldn’t quite make out the emblem of, but I believe part of it had crossed assault rifles.
I couldn’t help but notice they were pretty much all white men with tattoos, so I’m going to guess this is some far-right group but maybe that is not fair to assume. Eventually they all got on their bikes and started to leave, but it seemed they were just kind of there to be noticed by the crowds. Who were these people? Sorry for the ignorant question, I am not from Germany.
Carlsson deal for Philly = good, but for Anaheim = bad?
Look, I get that Verbeek fumbled this thing and many indications point to him having lost a chance to lock him up for less and longer.
But can someone explain to me, why are so many Flyers fans talking about how Briere is a genius, he’s a GM who has balls, this offer sheet was a masterclass, etc., and yet, the whole hockey world is pointing out that the exact same deal is an absolute nightmare for the Ducks, how it couldn’t possibly be worse, how Carlsson is getting walked right into UFA status, the cap hit is way too high and it’ll eat up too much reserved for other players, etc…
…but all these things are also true for Philly. In fact, Philly would have the worst of it because they’d be giving 4 picks away in addition. I just don’t get how the narratives for the 2 teams can be so drastically different? Enlighten me please!
In many ways, the story of World Cup 2026 is about American Exceptionalism
San Pedro getting decked out for WC
Not sure exactly what they’re making in the back by Playback, but looks like the stretch of pedestrian walkway will be a sort of fan zone with a gigantic screen?
