Some years ago, I made this collection of NPC phrases you overhear during G2 [German]
Don't ask me why. I have no idea either :D
The Level 5 Menger Sponge is 100% done!
I spent the last 66 days creating a level 5 Menger Sponge on my friend's survival server. It took 2.8 Million Chiseled Stone Bricks and 242 hours to finish.
I still need to build some kind of foundation since the build is floating awkwardly in the air. But not before a loooong break from this project :D
A big "Thank you" to anyone that commented some nice words under my progress posts. I hope you like the end result :)
The Menger Sponge Project is 77% done
I'm now over 200 hours and 2 million placed Chiseled Stone Bricks in
The Menger Sponge Project is 40% done
Well, technically 41%. Once I reached a certain height, snow started to accumulate on the construction site. So I had to put in the top layer prematurely. It stings a bit because I thought about how satisfying placing the final layer would be, but it wasn't worth the hassle of constantly removing snow.
I'm now 130 hours and over 1 million placed blocks in.
The Menger Sponge Project is 24% done
As predicted, the progress slowed down a bit. Mostly due to the Gothic Remake. Which will probably take over all my gaming time for a while. So we will see when the next update (40%) will be posted.
For now I have placed 96 level 3 sponges. Consisting of 1920 level 2s or 38.400 level 1s
The Menger Sponge Project is 16% done
Just finished the 27th layer of the level 5 Menger Sponge. I grinded pretty hard and progress will probably slow down a bit from now on. Eagle-eyed viewers might have noticed some (additional) holes in the build. That's because I removed all blocks that are occluded on all six sides by other blocks. Bringing down the 3.2 million blocks to ~2.8 million. Saving around 10% of blocks that need to be placed
The first layer of the Menger Sponge Project is in place
I always wanted to create a level 5 Menger Sponge in Survival Minecraft. So I spent some days AFKing at our server's cobblestone maker to collect around 3 million cobble. Those are now being cooked and crafted into Chiseled Stone Bricks over the next two week while I place the blocks.
A while ago, a couple of fellow fractal enjoyers and I created a level 5 Sierpinski Carpet on wplace.live. It has since been almost completely covered up and I'm trying my best to restore it. If anyone here plays on wplace and wants to help: These are the coordinates of the upper left corner and this is the template I'm using. Thanks!
The author behind these illustrations is Jerzy Czerniewski, if I didn't know LOTR beforehand, I'd guess these books were some sort of horror.
Another interesting thing is that Maria Skibniewska, who wrote the first Polish translation of the Lord of the Rings, changed the first book's title into what would be best translated as "a Journey".
