Bowie “READ” campaign posters available from the American Library Association

From the ALA site: “In celebration of ALA’s 150th anniversary, ALA Graphics is reissuing the iconic and ever-popular David Bowie poster. This special limited-run reprint of the original 1987 poster honors the singer-songwriter, actor, producer, and artist. An avid reader, Bowie was one of the first celebrities to pose for the READ® campaign. Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1996, he received a 2006 Grammy for Lifetime Achievement, among numerous other awards throughout his career.”

Positive ways in which Phish has changed your life?

For some reason I was feeling super grateful to the band this morning, grateful that they’re still around, touring, and making engaging music. It made me want to do an appreciation post.

So I’ll start: I’ve always struggled to exercise consistently. Never lasted longer than six months with any routine. But during the pandemic, I started jogging to Phish. They’d struck me as music to work-out to, but I soon found that, for me, their music put me in the perfect headspace to run further and further. By playing random shows, I was never quite sure of what song would come up next, and as they’d stretch out jams, the constant sense of surprise and exploration put in me in very positive zone for each run.

Now I look forward to each run as an opportunity to listen to Phish, and sometimes I try to limit my exposure to the band outside of my runs just to make those runs more meaningful and exciting. I’ve remained consistent, and while I haven’t tackled a half marathon yet, I’ve run a number of 10K and 10 mile races— all to Phish.

P.S. would love to hear recommendations for good sets/shows to run to!
