Appreciation post: The Boys are doing their best

I just wanted to share that: while they are not experts, they are not historians… they ARE funny, creative, and great storytellers.

If you want a history forward podcast or docuseries then please look elsewhere for that. (Share examples if you like below)

Appreciate these guys for what they ARE. Not what you magically expect them to be.

Love Marcus and the work he does and the entire research team. Give them grace as it is incredibly difficult to tell a complete historically accurate story while also trying to bring levity and banter.

That is all. Hail yourselves.

(Feel free to share favorite sources, links, articles, or books about the current series or a series that you enjoy but maybe needed better context/research below)👇

Edit: I agree this series needs some work. However, these comments come up every single time they cover anything historical. Write them in. Send them books. We don’t need 100 posts complaining. Instead share something of substance with better quality information! 😇

Visited the Vampire and Paranormal Museum last year

A few pics from a museum I visited in Bucks County, PA. These pics do not do justice to the size of the place and the incredible amount of relics they have

Why so many paywalls now?

I originally subscribed to the Patreon (1) in order to get the video version of the numbered and side stories episodes, which they moved to Netflix (2). Recently I noticed the new episodes on Spotify (3) want me to sign up for SiriusXM (4).

Why are they asking us to sign up for 3-4 different services when it all used to just be on Patreon? I understand gotta make money but at what point does it start to feel out of touch with fans and greedy?

Edit: Many of you are saying just wait, ok, where are the full video episodes and side stories posted after it shows on Netflix?

I understand its all optional but dont like having to sign up for multiple services just to get what was offered before by a single service. Im not made of money either.

Edit 2: Its seems no one here actually subs to the Patreon cause 3/4ths of you think the video episodes are on there. Tbh idc about the Sirius thing as much as we do get the episodes eventually.

To everyone saying "It shows up on Youtube",the videos on Patreon are longer and uncensored, hence why I thought Patreon was awesome, uncensored Streams and Weekly Video episodes PLUS im directly supposting the boys, fuck yeah!

My main issue is the weekly video Episodes and Side Stories used to be part of the Patreon sub, now to watch them I have to sub to Netflix to get the contact I was already getting on Patreon, how is that NOT paywalled?

To everyone saying "just listen to it" you clearly dont understand the issue is that I want TO WATCH it as they provide extra imagery content during to enhance the experience. This was the ENTIRE REASON I subed to the Patreon in the first place.

I concede that "greedy" was the incorrect wording

Edit 3: FINAL EDIT I guess Im the asshole for not wanting to subscribe to Netflix also, fuck me am I right?

Edit 4: Whoever reported my post to suicide watch, fuck you

1945 old portrait - looking forward to find out its story

Hello! I've just bought this old portrait and I am very curious about it. I want to find out more about it and maybe someone here can help. I wonder who this man is and who the artist was. The signature doesn't help too much, I can't really read the name. Can someone recognise something and tell me more about it? I think it's an old portrait made in german POW camps and I also sense something gay about it, maybe a hidden story or something. I know it's a very basic portrait but I like it so much, there's something I feel attracted to. And I really want to find out its story. 1945 is written on it so there are chances some people from their life could be still alive. I'm curious about your thoughts.

Bootcamp breakdown

Hearing Marcus talk about how bootcamp is used to break young people down and rebuild them into military members made me remember my time in bootcamp and how weird it was above anything else.

I was in Navy bootcamp (the easiest one) and once when we fucked up a roll of toilet paper they beat us for two hours (made us excercise hard) then dropped a projector screen so we could watch footage of people jumping out of the WTC at parade rest. I was shocked at how blatant the manipulation was, but a lot of dudes were crying while watching. Another time they beat us then made us listen to the sonar audio of a sub going below crush depth.

Any other vets have fun psychological torture stories from bootcamp?
