Does the diaper change crocodile roll ever let up?

My 11 month old has jumped into her toddler era a little early and we’ve experienced lots of changes in the past month. The toughest have been seeing her so upset through teething pain, and the dreaded diaper change death roll. She’ll be happy and giggling while I’m holding her and the second I put her on the changing table she starts screaming like she’s being tortured. Do we have any calm diaper changes in our future or is this just life until she’s potty trained?

What would you add to this? This years costume for my 13 month old

I’m trying to think of any accessories to add to this jumpsuit to make it more of a complete costume. Trying to think of things that are minimal as the wearer is a young toddler. I figured a little baby scythe would be funny if I can find one but other than that I’ve got nothing. Any ideas are appreciated!

Saturday morning calls for banana pancakes

These are so easy and so fast! I’m one of those ‘measure with your heart’ kinds of people so if you are too this recipe is for you.

Mash 1 small-medium banana. Mix in 1 egg. Mix in roughly 2 tbsp of flour, I eyeballed it. A few drops of vanilla extract. For fiber I added a couple pinches of ground seed trio (flax, hemp and chia). I cooked these in unsalted butter.

That’s it! My whole family loves these. I live for a crispy edged pancake.

Pizza on the north side similar to Aurelio’s?

I had Aurelio’s for the first time in a long time last weekend and I’ve been thinking about it since. I’m in Lincoln Square though and the closest one is in La Grange 😭 I think it’s the sauce that makes it so good, maybe the crust. Idk. I need recs!

Salmon bowl baby style, 10mo

I finally cooked a real dinner for all of us tonight! Baked salmon, sushi rice, avocado dusted in rice cereal and some pineapple for dessert that I definitely ended up cutting smaller than this.

Some of it she swallowed, quite a bit ended up on the floor and some also got in her ear 🙃 so it was immediately into the bath

Trying tonight!

Any time I come across something quick and easy that’s nutritious I feel compelled to post it here. Especially for those of us starting finger foods who are specifically trying to keep the sodium low. Picked these up from Mariano’s (Kroger) this morning and I love that the salt content is suuuuper low so you can season as desired. Has anyone tried either?

First report of baby taking toys from other babies at daycare and idk how to process it

I feel silly. My baby is about 10 months old and has always had such a happy and positive demeanor. It’s all changing though as we approach 10 months and she’s getting more grumpy and frustrated. Still a happy girl, but I can definitely tell she’s turning into a toddler soon.

Today when we picked her up from daycare, the teacher said she did well today but that she did sit on another baby 🤷‍♀️ and she took another baby’s toy away from them a few times. Now I know this is all probably regular 10 month old stuff and they don’t really have a concept of mine and yours. I’m sure that even people who grow up to be very giving and thoughtful were little stinkers from time to time as toddlers. But for some reason it’s sitting on my mind like how on earth do we encourage a 10 month old to share? And not sit on other babies? Lol.

Recipe! Sloppy Joe baked pasta

The other day I combined leftover sloppy joe meat with pasta and mixed in some Greek yogurt, just sort of absentmindedly during a leftovers rotation. This creation blew my mind. My 9 month old devoured it as did my wife and I. I was inspired to take this a little further and decided because it’s 100+ degrees F in the Midwest, why not make a pasta bake? 😂😭🥵

I used this recipe and added a few tweaks to make it “sloppy joe” -

https://www.wellplated.com/hamburger-casserole/

Edits I made:

- I didn’t have paprika so I improvised with Penzys BBQ 3000. The bowl of spices is shown is all if the other dry spices, minus the salt is calls for, and an additional tbsp of garlic powder as I didn’t have fresh.

- I used a few frozen onion/pepper balls in leu of fresh. Also a whole bag of frozen peas and carrots.

- 1 can of tomato paste to add some richness

- Recently discovered this veggie pasta (from Kroger) and it’s SO good, highly recommend

Sauce: I added the following and measured with my heart - brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, yellow mustard, and pasta water

I’m baking it tonight without the Greek yogurt because technically my wife is lactose intolerant. Initially I just added it to my baby’s for a little extra protein and the flavor profile is *chefs kiss* the sweetness of the sauce with the tanginess of the yogurt ! My new hyper fixation meal. Had to share

EDIT: this was so delicious! A note I will add, plan to use a LOT more chicken or beef broth than the recipe suggests if making my version. Since there is an extra whole can of tomato paste in the sauce you can get away with diluting it with extra broth so the end result doesn’t get too dry in the oven. Another option is to just eat it right out of the pot which we’ll probably do next time.

Tomato plant net?

After living in the same apartment for 3 years I finally got a tomato plant! It’s in the perfect spot out on a shared concrete patio. But now I’m wondering if it’s worth getting a net to go over it to prevent pests (mainly rats) from getting at the fruit. Do nets affect the yield or cause any other issues? I’m going to be feeding some of these tomatoes to my baby so I’d rather be safer and protect it from pests in some way

Can anyone recommend a park with picnic area that is playground adjacent?

Looking for a pretty specific rec today. I’m planning my daughter’s first birthday for the end of the summer and we want to keep it affordable and outside. Ideally I’m looking for a park with a covered picnic area that’s close to a playground since we will have a bunch of family’s/friends kids there. We’re in Lincoln Square so trying to keep it north side. Thanks in advance!!

My birthday is at the end of the month and instead of a birthday cake I’m looking to get a whole key lime pie. Any suggestions?

How would you baby proof this?

My 8 month old just started crawling and I’m in a baby proofing frenzy. This table has trouble written all over it. And way to securely cover this X so nobody’s head or other limbs get caught in it? I could try to convince my wife to get rid of it we need a table in this area
