Hey Folks,
My wife and I are visiting Bali with our four year old son. We are living in Kerobokan area. We have exhausted all the entertainment options for the little one in the vicinity. Done with the beach, Mookiland etc. multiple times
Does anyone have any suggestions for beach clubs which have some activities for toddlers ? Even beach clubs with some open space for them to burn some energy will suit us whilst we can relax. Any experiences and suggestions will be appreciated. Thank you.
A bit slow around here..
Hi there,
We arrived here a week ago and can’t help but notice the lack of tourists around. We were in Seminyak this evening, around the restaurant Mozzarella and had a chat with a couple of shopkeepers. They seem to believe that the numbers are down drastically. We were here during the Christmas break and this island was filled to its brim. Do you think this is due to the geopolitical situation or the European holidays which start next week will normalise the situation? Asking because we have a few local friends (with businesses)whom we know for years who seem to struggle due to this dip. Thank you.
Pot belly(amongst men),gut overhang(amongst women), still a sign of prosperity?
reddit.comHalf British Half Dutch, living and working in India, opinion and questions
I’m a foreigner living in Mumbai for the past two years with my family. I enjoy the country and people but I’m often struck by the overwhelming negativity which envelops most of the political discussions which I invariably am a part of during my social meetings with locals. Terms such as ‘far right’ and ‘failure’ is thrown around willy-nilly in this country. The political climate to me seems conservative but definitely not far right compared to where I come from. Economy seems to struggle but this is the case every where in Europe.
Youngsters who I work with can’t wait to leave the country to make it big abroad, not fully understanding the challenges which they will face being a foreigner abroad. Women openly speak about the unsafe environment of big cities and how they will fare better abroad. I have had the privilege of having British Indian friends back home, and every one of them has a tale of racism to tell. Indian male abroad are generalised as serial rapists and women are mocked for their appearance and bindi by ignorants. Older Indian families are stereotyped as smelly over ambitious, anti integration, overachievers who are to be hated by nationalists.
My question is, I’m sure this understanding of challenges abroad exists in this country. How can the trade off be worth it? You still live in your country which is growing, and will make it someday, albeit not the easy path of westerners.
Please be kind. Absolute genuine question.

reddit.comEVisa question please
Dear Travellers,
We are a family of 3 travelling from Amsterdam on the 1st of July to Bali. We have lived there before(2012) and have been there last December. Due to sheer lack of time before the last trip, we decided to opt for the VOA. We knew we needed the arrival card and we filled up the digital arrival card 72 hours before our departure, which led us to the almost pre filled evisa section. All we had to do was fill in the hotel details etc. make the payments and we were issued the visa within an hour.
This time around I wanted to arrange the visa in advance and looked through the website which required us to upload the passports and photographs. Is this something which all of you do after the arrival card forms as it’s easier or do you go through the evisa website which requires the uploading of pics and passport scans?
Thanks in advance.
Colleague wants to register at my address
I met a colleague a few days back who is on her sick leave due to burn out. She’s going through a bit in her personal life and is considering moving away from the NL during the summer period. She is in the midst of selling most of her personal belongings and decided not to renew her current apartment lease.
During the meet up she kept bringing up the need to be registered at a local address, to keep the health insurance going. This is during the period where she figures out another place after the summer break. It’s a right mess of a situation with the timings and her wishes, but she’s clearly not being decisive due to her mental heath. If my wife and I were to consider for a minute, to allow her to register at our home address temporarily , what would be the legal complications of this? Not obliged to but would like to help. Thanks for your help.
