USC Viterbi Appeal Admit

Hey everyone,

I recently got into USC Viterbi for Spring 2027 Mechanical Engineering through appeal, and I’m trying to figure out the best use of Fall 2026.

I’m an international student from India interested in robotics, AI, and entrepreneurship. A lot of people suggest community college, but that’s not really an option for me because equivalent transferable courses aren’t easily available where I live.

For current/former Viterbi spring admits, especially engineering students:

  • What did you actually do during fall before starting USC?
  • Was it more worth it to do USC's study abroad or washington dc program as an engineering student?
  • Did you feel behind socially or academically when you entered in spring?

Would really appreciate advice from people who went through this.

USC Appeal Spring Admit

Hey everyone,

I recently got into USC for Spring 2027 Mechanical Engineering through appeal. Before that, I had already committed to UW Seattle Engineering Undeclared, applied for housing, got my I-20, and created my UW email.

I’m leaning USC because I want Mechanical Engineering specifically, but I’m honestly confused right now.

A few questions:

  • How long did it take for your USC portal to fully update after submitting intent to enroll/deposit?
  • When should I officially withdraw from UW?
  • Does USC assign someone to help spring admits figure out IB credits and what classes they already come in with?
  • Since I did IB, should I wait for USC to evaluate my credits before deciding what to do during fall?
  • What did you guys do during the fall semester before starting USC?
  • I’m considering spending fall either in London or Washington DC doing something productive/exploratory. Any recommendations?
  • Did starting in spring affect internships, recruiting, or social life later on?

For context, I’m an international student interested in engineering/robotics/entrepreneurship and I don’t want to waste the fall semester.

Would really appreciate advice from USC spring admits or anyone who has been in a similar situation.

Hey guys! So i have seen so many people who got off the purdue waitlist for FYE on 27th and 30th april. I was just wondering that will Purdue release more acceptances for FYE or should I just finally give up?

Would really appreciate any thoughts or info. Thanks
