Back on the browser tab

When I read the bad news I was so upset that I immediately removed AoE from my browser tabs. Now that we had this unexpected cancelation of the cancelation announcement it is back up. Just a praise from a fan of the series ;)

Testing fully upgraded units in the scenario

Hello! Can you please advise how to set up the editor to be able to test out various units with all upgrades and relevant HC cards?

200+ hours of play time up to Umbral Sands review (2nd playthough)

POSITIVES:

  1. Devs are clearly listening to feedback and improving the game little by little

  2. Landscape is beautiful with lush vegetation and eye candy - Runescape vibe is definitely there

  3. Skill spells - feel amazing, the synergy between them <3 more synergy and more of them please

  4. Anima vents

  5. Better performance since launch

  6. Workstations update

  7. Sanguine urns -> although should be renamed to constitution urns and their visual is questionable

  8. Food variety since release -> hopefully more effects will be added

  9. Great boss and miniboss fights

  10. Archery - bows feel different to crossbows - sweet spot "minigame"

  11. Biomes - their design and just about (almost) everything

  12. Progression from tier to tier

  13. Runes are integral part of the game

  14. Different types of elemental magic, arrow type variety, mellee weapons variety

  15. Masterwork weapons

  16. Skills as a whole

NEGATIVES:

  1. No animation canceling in combat - breaking of combos

  2. A lot of combat skill spells take too long to cast and make you immobile

  3. Map markers - few icons and you cannot write down notes

  4. Enemies sometimes freeze in place and get stuck (especially the vault bosses)

  5. Lack of tooltips (hovering over items does not show their type etc)

  6. World sometimes feels empty (too few POI, NPCs, hidden treasures etc)

  7. Raids feel as a filler (excluding region boss ones) -> breakable player structures?

  8. Stealth - feels less than half baked -> the game would feel better if the ranger armor passives focused on something else

  9. Long bows vs short bows -> need to be more distinguished and fill different niche

  10. Pop ups in the middle of the screen ( eg "air vent got concentrated") break immersion -> make use of visual/audio cues instead

  11. No enemy factions -> think of Valheim - Wolves fighting zombies fighting lesser dragons...

  12. The turn from evening to night feels too sudden

  13. The biomes are.... plateau islands?! -> should be divided by mountain ranges, great rivers, chasms, seas...

  14. Fishing needs more love - more ways to use the skill -> fish ponds created by players?

  15. Some UI elements look "cheap" - thirst, hunger and energy especially

WEIRD:

  1. Respawn rate of natural resources and treasures -> less respawning makes them feel more valuable

  2. Loot packs -> is there a need for them?

  3. Mounts -> not every survival game needs them

  4. Used arrows are not very noticable and hard to pick up after an encounter

  5. Lack of skill requirements in the world -> you need lvl xx to do this or that

  6. Magic combat - not very skill based especially when compared to Ranged

  7. Enemy variety -> not a straight up negative right now since it is still in development

New patch new strategy - turtling

For context, immediately after starting a naval battle, a message popped up saying that enemy ship started to sink. After killing all but a few dozen enemies I realized the rest run ashore and hid under the upside down ship. WTF??!!!

This is so annoying... Sometimes horse archers start the battle with their sidearms in hands only to charge to bows after riding closer to the enemy. It wastes time and had they had their bows ready from the start they may had loosened a few more.
