Wife asked to separate for her birthday week
We've been having problems for years, I became physically disabled and developed an autoimmune disorder in the past few years, and we've been in couples and individual therapy.
She made it clear she needs more help around the house and feels like she doesn't have a partner. Cool. I step it up, I fight fatigue I get every treatment I can to be "normal." I'm told that's helping but she can't communicate with me. Great. Let's work on communication. I expressed I need compassion and physical touch - not sex - touch, kisses, hugs. I literally just want to feel liked if not loved.
Things were improving, she was showing me more affection. Then our session comes up and I'm blindsided about how it isn't going well, she has compassion fatigue, and doesn't feel like putting in effort.
She asked me for a separation yesterday and I'm processing. But I can't help but feel I'm out of energy and effort here. Hard not to blame disability as a factor, I can't blame her either. I've sacrificed so much for our family, her, and her boys (whose father hasn't paid a dime)
I'm angry, but mostly hurt, I feel abandoned and betrayed. I have a history of being abandoned and the timing seems convenient for her birthday.
I have no friends, no close family, I'm utterly alone in this and have been sobbing in the basement since.
