How to manage VERY attached child disruptions?

I work in PreK and the child is 5 next month. She’s been going to this school since she was an infant.

Shes always been really attached to one teacher at a time, but it’s become more and more of an issue the last few weeks. She will jump on top of me, hang off of me and throw (huge) tantrums when I am tasking and engaging with other children. It’s become a big disruption. We have talked about how kisses aren’t for teachers and just for family and we need to ask before we give hugs. We’ve also been learning about boundaries in my classroom and personal bubbles. My supervisors tell me to talk with Dad (single parent) but any time I bring up concerns he brushes them off. It’s getting to the point where I’m deeply uncomfortable being near her and I’m at a loss.

Ps. I’m in the process of training a new assistant but she’s admitted that she’s scared of this child when the child is always screaming “I don’t like you, go away” and crying for me. I’m consistently coaching her on building relationships. I REALLY hope she gets more comfortable in her role because this is not sustainable for me alone.

The embarrassment that comes after learning to unmask

When I started to unmask entirely, I sort of felt like the butt of the joke about the person I was.
The hardest thing to swallow was that I hadn’t realized how hard I plastered it on, even when things felt off and mechanical. I realized that I was adapting to my surroundings by mimicking the people around me without realizing it at the time. I needed role models in friendship because I wasn’t able to think of what to do/say on my own. I needed to observe people to know how to act to blend in. I needed validation from others to prove that I was human.

Now that the mask is fully off, sometimes I wonder if Im too direct and lukewarm towards people. I question if I’m perceived as rude. But then I remember that there are so many allistic people that ARE rude and they don’t bat an eye and question if their tone, face and words were offensive or not. Perhaps it’s due to a lack of empathy as deep as we have it.

I realize now I’d rather be perceived as “too direct” than placate others by being over the top friendly and losing myself in the process. But boy, do I feel shame about the person that didn’t see it all sooner.

I just needed to get that out today.

When skin allergies become a major issue

TW: Only scroll through pics if you’re okay seeing wounds.

My poor Theodore got a skin infection due to having skin allergies and living in the PNW. The photos are after the vet shaved the infected fur, revealing a large (hidden) patch of skin that wasn’t visible through the fur.

One day a small clump of his fur came out and exposed a small “cut” behind his ear. We thought it was just a small injury. We kept eyes on it for a day or two before taking him to the vet when it didn’t get any better. Thank god we did because the vet was able to diagnose it and give him ointment and anti-biotics. Apparently this kind of infection is very common in Frenchies, so if you see something out of the norm on your sweet pup make sure if it starts to spread to get to the vet ASAP.

He’s all better now. ♥️

Tell me about this hatchet

Got it at a ren faire. Could this be used functionally after being sharpened (carving, splitting wood etc) or is it more of a displaying situation? Can anyone tell me what type of wood and metal was likely used?
