Most weather apps give you numbers. Velowindow gives you an answer.

58°F, 14 mph wind, 25% chance of rain — is that a go or a no? A regular weather app makes you figure that out yourself. Velowindow calculates a 0–100 ride score so you don't have to.

It accounts for things normal weather apps ignore: apparent temperature not just air temp, gusts separately from sustained wind, dew point instead of humidity percentage, and recent rainfall for trail conditions. The score is also personalized by ride type — a windy day scores differently for a road cyclist than a mountain biker, because it is a different day.

It also identifies your best 3-hour window and warns you if conditions fall apart right after it.

Free PWA, works on iPhone and Android, no account needed.

I want to know if the score feels right. Pick a day you rode recently and check what it would have said. Where is it wrong?

NYC, 2000s. Same function-over-fashion energy.

Not gonna lie, the love on that last post caught me off guard fr.

Same energy, different coast. No mood boards. No brand deals. Just people moving through the city, solving real problems with what they wore.

Function shaped the look, and somehow it ended up cooler than half the stuff trying too hard today.

Wouldn’t be surprised if this style creeps into streetwear over the next few years. Signs are already there.

Anyone else riding with lights almost full-time now?

A few years ago I only used lights for night rides or bad weather.

Now I pretty much leave a front and rear light on during every ride, even in the middle of the day. Traffic around here feels noticeably more distracted lately and I’ve had a couple close passes that definitely got my attention.

The weird thing is I used to think brighter was always better, but now I care more about being noticeable from different angles than just having the highest output possible.

Also started appreciating smaller and lighter lights way more. Once you spend a few hours on the bike, heavy stuff hanging off the bars gets annoying fast.

Curious if anyone else changed their habits recently or if I’m just getting paranoid with age.

Wanted a deck of mountain bike themed playing cards so we made one

Been working on this passion project with my brother and brother-in-law for the last year. We all ride, and wanted to create something fun that felt authentic to MTB culture.

I work on my bikes in my backyard once in a while. Today I spotted a Schrader valve cap down in the grass. I was going to tip out the dirt to return the valve cap back to the shop, but I then I saw there was a little sprout in there.

That's a new one

Had a customer walk in today with a flat. All of their spokes were intact and the wheel was fine. Turns out they ran over a spoke nipple in the road and it blew a flat. This is definitely the first time I've seen a spoke pop a tire like that.

Need cheap fixie bike recs

Hey everyone, I’m looking to buy my first fixed gear bike and could really use some advice from people who’ve already used them for daily riding. I’m mainly interested in cheap fixie bikes that can handle regular city commuting, mostly short distances with frequent stops, traffic lights, and a bit of uneven road here and there. Nothing performance-focused, just something reliable, simple and easy to maintain. My budget is on the lower end, so I’ve been looking at entry-level models around the usual budget range with basic steel frames, flip-flop hubs, and standard braking setups. The issue is that reviews seem very mixed, and it’s hard to tell which parts actually matter most for durability versus what is just marketing. I also checked a few listings on Alibaba to compare how similar-looking builds vary in price and specs. But that honestly made it more confusing rather than clearer. Rn I’m trying to understand what should matter most for a first bike like this: frame quality, wheel strength, or gearing setup, especially for everyday city use where the bike will be locked outside and used frequently. If you had to choose one thing to prioritize when buying cheap fixie bikes for daily commuting, what would it be?

Best budget bike accessories that actually improve your ride

My evening and early morning rides have been difficult due to poor visibility and rear-end collision. A few day ago, I was rear-ended by a motorist who claimed that he couldn’t see me due to poor visibility. I have done my research online, and I have identified a USB Rechargeable Bike Lights, Super Bright Headlight-Taillight Combinations, Bike Lights for Night Riding, Waterproof Bicycle Light Set, and Flashlight online.

I would really appreciate a detailed review of the same from any rider who is using the same gadget. I would like to know the efficacy of using the device. My thinking is, if any other riders has ever used it and has had a good experience with the use of the rear and front lighting then I will consider the purchase of the same. My morning and evening rides are very therapeutic; it’s has really help me decompress from my routine. Additionally, I have been reviewing sites like Alibaba which I noticed had a some of the USB Rechargeable Bike Lights, Super Bright Headlight-Taillight, but am yet to get one that has the details safety review.
