Snagged this "Century Maid" from an estate sale

It was a little pricey for what it is, ESPECIALLY from an estate sale, but $65 for something I'm going to hang on the wall isn't bad. Around 6"x10" - 16x24cm

What is this giant plant? I am certain this is a massive dandelion but my family disagrees.

Aida Flores has biked in Pilsen since she was a child

In a July 1, 2026, article on the Streetsblog Chicago website, Aida Flores said that she has been biking in Pilsen since she was a child. She has encouraged her children to ride their bikes by holding family bike rides. ”It’s great to be able to teach the kids how to be safe [while bike riding] and, also, how to enjoy their city,“ Flores stated. (The photo & the caption are from a February, 2026, Block Club Chicago article about the announcement of Flores’ campaign for alderperson.)

The little grave lost in the trees

Found this small fenced grave deep in the woods outside Carbondale, CO. The old tricycle sitting beside it stopped me cold — a reminder of how different life was over a century ago. Infant and child deaths were heartbreakingly common then. They still happen today, but the progress we’ve made in just the last couple decades is incredible. A quiet, heavy piece of history resting in the trees.

Tiny sliver of bike culture

I left part of the 1995 Overrated List for context. From r/mildlyinteresting.
I WISH I could see this amazing ad in full!

I wrapped my handlebars. It was a fever dream.

I retired some Ritchey Beacon XL 52 CM bars and Campagnolo 11s Chorus brifters.

My new bars are Beacon 44cm. I am using TRP levers and a 12s bar end shifter.

Brooks Cambium tape is my fav. I get pretty sweaty and I don’t need gloves. It is mega durable. I haven’t wrapped drop bars in years. I just followed what Calvin on the Park Tool told me to do.

I organized my frame bag too. I really didn’t need all 6 packets of Via.

Thanks for reading!
