Mega Millions Sales Down 25% A Year After 4X Price Increase To $5

Lottery officials said jackpots would get hire faster! That isn’t happening and that there would be billion dollar jackpots. That hasn’t happened either. It did get up to 980 million in November 2025.

“Mega Millions has faced a 23% to 28% drop in ticket sales after a format switch increased the price from $2 to $5, driving away casual players due to lower jackpots and minimal payouts.

State-specific data from Massachusetts confirmed a 24% to 25% slump in sales. In New York, drawing sales plummeted from roughly 1.9 million tickets to 560,000 tickets.

Because ticket costs quintupled from the original $1 game era, far fewer players are buying multiple tickets. This drop in volume means fewer total tickets are sold per drawing, creating a mathematical feedback loop: lower ticket sales mean a decreased statistical likelihood of anyone hitting the jackpot, causing the prize pool to grow at an extremely slow rate during its initial weeks.

Community discussions across lottery forums reveal that many former regular players are now boycotting the game or heavily reducing their play. Players frequently complain that the tickets feel like an unjustified "idiot tax" and note that they have redirected their disposable income to purchase Powerball or Multi-Match tickets instead.”

Despite the slump, organizers adjusted the game by removing a gold ball to create slightly better overall odds and raised the minimum payout to $10”

Mega Millions isn’t even a thought to me with the price of the tickets if it’s not a huge jackpot. $5 is $5 super lotto tickets with better odds and 2 Powerball tickets. I know they’re not making the money they thought. The economy is terrible!

Powerball vs Mega Millions

Mega Millions is 800 million
Powerball is 633 million
Super Lotto is 41 million

I am ready to be a millionaire this week! I already had the dream where I collect my MegaMillions check. Although because I only play one or two lines …It might be Powerball it’s less expensive and I have won cash before ⚡️

Is this the week we win and clock starts over before the holidays?

Powerball ticket sales begin Tuesday in the United Kingdom

The Powerball expands to the United Kingdom today. 70 million foreign players now have the chance to win jackpots funded by primarily by Americans and winnings are tax free because the UK doesn't tax lottery winnings (it's illegal).

This was the worst deal ever for Americans.

Is it Time To Leave WeWork?

I have been a WeWork member since 2016. I stayed through the bankruptcy and COVID and I am annoyed we are not being grandfathered in with these price increases and credit reductions. My membership just went up $79 dollars per month when the contract changed.

You want us to sign a contract to guarantee revenue but also increase your prices and cut perks. Printing perk gone, meeting credits from 5 to 3 for All access and 12 to 2 for Office members.

NONE of these facilities have been upgraded.
They have the exact same furniture as 8 and 10 yrs ago.
What is the value in the price increase ?

Is it time to go to another coworking space? The price changes are making the magic wear off.

Mega vs Powerball

I always play once it gets high.

Do you spend your money on 1 Mega currently at $331 million dollars or do you spend your money on 2 Powerball tickets currently at $154 million ?

Super lottery is currently at $23 million

When Mega Millions is this high I don’t mind spending $10 for 2 tickets even though it has relatively the same odds as Power! I never win sh on Super but I buy tickets just in case when it gets high!

I am feeling lucky 🍀 this week boys and girls!

Should I buy a new ticket 🎟️

These numbers are so close together. Should I buy another ticket. This never happens 🤭 Yes I know that all numbers have the same chance of being chosen, but the reality is that 23 2425 is a super rare combination to show up at the same time and probably unlikely. Should I buy another ticket?

These are super annoying and the 16 miles for $10 trips are insane too. Uber needs to get their pay for rides together.
