Racially insensitive language

hi guys, i’m looking for some advice. i’ve been a DSP for a few years now in a predominantly white area and state. i’ve never had this issue until recently. i have a client who uses racially insensitive language often. she refers to people of color as “colored people” and today when she was describing her friend she used the word “mulatto”. i’m biracial so i found this extremely offensive and attempted to educate her on why we shouldn’t say thoes terms and told her the correct language to use. my question is do i bring this up to my team leaders? i’m a little nervous it will be brushed off because everyone at my work is white. i’m the only minority. idk yall gimme your best advice please 😭

pissed to say the least

this rant might be messy and all over the place so please bare with me 🩷. i am currently 30 weeks pregnant and have been experiencing my POTS symptoms worsening to the point i can’t preform my job duties. i either call out or im off sitting in my car trying not to pass out. i had an appointment with my OB today and i wanted to discuss going on leave at 32 weeks because its getting too much. i shared an episode i had with him where i was just sitting and randomly my heart rate jumped from 77 bmp to 130 bpm. i got hot, sweaty, dizzy and ended up puking. usually sitting helps but it hasn’t since i hit the 3rd trimester. the doctor started to make every excuse under the book. first he told me i should try to eat more carbs and drink more water. and then he said he wasn’t concerned about the heart rate jump and would be more concerned if it was 230 BMP+. like im sorry but that’s like emergency room level of intense. i told him i have pots so im not sure if carbs would help as i’ve been dealing with this predating my pregnancy. he is refusing to sign my short term disability paperwork because he doesn’t think it would be approved. he said and i quote “ the nurses have to have a reason to take you out. having a high heart rate and getting sick is kinda tricky you need a real documented condition” like im sorry? did i not just say i have POTS. i ended up crying a little bit because i can’t keep on like this physically but i also can’t go without money. also cried because i felt super dismissed, i felt like he was taking my very real medical past and minimizing it to just 3rd trimester comfort. i ended up calling my pcp and getting an appointment scheduled with her to evaluate me and sign off on my paper. wish me luck!

pots and pregnancy

hi guys! a little backstory on me before my discussion. i (25 F) was recently diagnosed with POTs early last year after over 14 years of dealing with symptoms but no diagnosis. my POTS symptoms where pretty manageable throughout the years with some flair ups here and there that would leave me bed bound for a little bit but nothing too crazy up until i got pregnant. it feels like my symptoms have dialed up to 100000% i have flair ups daily. i currently work as a direct support professional and do have work accommodations such as being able to sit as needed and no strenuous activities but it’s gotten to the point where that isn’t even helping. the other day at work i brought some clients to an indoor pool and it was HOT. 15 minutes in i start to feel very sick and hot, sitting wasn’t helping i also went to my car to sit in the ac and that didn’t help either. i ended up having to go home early and just lay in bed for the rest of the day. i was wondering if anyone else here is pregnant and what they do to manage their symptoms. i really would like to continue to work but im not sure how much longer i will last due to already having accommodations in the first place.

one year growth

before i share my routine i just want to say this will not work for everyone. this just what i have found to work for my hair. i personally have found using minimal products have made my hair flourish. in the first pic i struggled with length retention and constant frizziness that didnt go away with products or a deep cleanse.

my current routine is

shampoo and conditioner: Being Goodbye Frizz (i’m aware this is marketed to a looser pattern than mine but i find it to be very moisturizing

gel: xtreme gel

others: blue magic

i honestly don’t know how my hair is doing so good with the lack of a leave in conditioner but i am not complaining. i wash my hair 3 times a week, once i get out of the shower i apply my gel to my damp hair and let it air dry. sometimes i will break the gel cast with some blue magic. if anyone sees anything that could be improved on PLEASE lmk 🩷
