My full name and surgical history used in medical school OSCE at opposite end of country?

Hiya,

Odd one this.

Have a mate that goes to a med school all the way down south. Like 600 miles away.

They recently had an OSCE where the station was an A-E but they had my name and exact surgery I had.

Thing is, I’m no John Smith, I’ve got a pretty unique name, and my surgery was also on the obscure side.

I thought it was a joke but I asked about and the dummy name and condition were IDENTICAL to mine??

Are they allowed to do this lmao, kinda funny but would like to know either way.

Rise in tone deaf Medfluencers

Being fresh out of med school, I’ve still have my socials polluted with medical content from when I was revising for my exams

I was browsing TikTok and came across a video by a student where he details the following

Title: do NOT do medicine if:

You want to help people - don’t it’s too much effort. Just go be a nurse of HCA

Like science - don’t do medicine, it’s too much effort. Go be a scientist

Like problem solving - don’t do medicine, it’s too much effort. Just become a mathematician.

For money - don’t make me laugh. Don’t do medicine.

The little snippets given afterward each statement are very, very tone deaf. There’s so much to unpack in that video, his jokey tone, attitude or lack of insight… I could go on.

This is an example of a trend I’ve witnessed in my 6 years. It’s an uneasy rise of medfluencers who always portray medicine in such a horrendous way. Often they sell courses on the side and effectively prey on people desperate to study medicine just because they, themselves are medical students.

Kinda posting to see what others opinion are on this before I solidify my own. Would be nice to see other perspective, if there is any.

Ember Bus Service

God, what can I say, I love ember.

Originally live up in the middle of no where in the highlands. Historically shite bus services, bad times, bad connections.

Been in Aberdeen doing uni for the last 6 years. Been using ember as an alternative since they popped up to get to Dundee, Glasgow and Edinburgh from Aberdeen.

The service is fast, reliable, cheap as chips, frequent and comfortable. Not to mention the drivers are actually nice and are troopers that drive no matter the conditions. For example, at the start of the year there was hellish weather outside of Aberdeen, snow drifts and all. Driver was safe and then I got a refund on the ticket into my ember account ???? Outstanding

Lo and behold I come home to my wee village and an ember bus drives right past me stopping at the local stop.

I was gobsmacked.

Thought Ember was a big multinational company like Flix who I previously used. Turns out I’m very wrong.

Absolutely outstanding Scottish service that actually serves the country and doesn’t just stick to the usual routes the multinationals use.

If Ember has no fans then I’m dead.

Love,

Ember fan person.

La Sportiva TX4 Quality

Hiya,

Just a wee short rant and to see if anyone has had similar.

Got my TX4s at Christmas, off the back of my boulder X’s tred becoming bald and not living near a vibarum re-sole business.

I had my boulders from 2022-2025 being my daily shoe, wore it hiking, to the hospital for work, all day every god dam day. Phenomenal shoe. Best I’ve ever ever had.

I thought getting the TX4s would be a wee treat as they’re the more expensive approach shoe.

I’m beyond disappointed. The heel inside has worn through the fabric. The ties are fucked and the rubber surrounding the base of the shoe has started to crack.

Got them at Cotswold so planning on just returning them and getting a second pair of boulders.

Anyone else had similar experience?

Love,

La Sportiva fan boy x

Is bleeding normal? - NHS patient.

Hiya,

Kinda a silly question.

I’ve had the bag a year and 3 months. The skins kinda just always bled. It’s starting to get significant: staining on the bag seal, almost breaking the seal.

This normal for others or should I get it seen?

Thanks xx
