Need to Unite

MAKAUT's academic system needs serious reforms.

• The entire CA (Continuous Assessment) marking process lacks transparency. Students are often left relying on word of mouth regarding evaluation standards.

• Students have been denied basic necessities such as bathroom breaks during examinations. Such treatment is unacceptable in any educational institution.

• Out of the 30 marks allocated internally, there is no proper mechanism for students to verify how the 25 CA marks and other components are awarded.

• There is no clearly communicated weightage distribution for different modules, and marks are often distributed in an inconsistent manner.

• MAKAUT's syllabus remains heavily outdated in many areas. Students from CS and IT backgrounds are frequently forced to study subjects that contribute little to their academic or professional growth while dealing with unnecessary academic pressure.

• Semester durations are highly inconsistent. Some semesters stretch for around eight months while others are compressed into three to four months, creating chaos in academic planning.

• Why are there four CAs in a semester? In a typical 4-5 month semester, students barely recover from one assessment before another arrives. Two well-planned assessments would be far more reasonable and effective.

The result is a system that prioritizes constant examinations over meaningful learning. Despite all this strictness, placement outcomes remain disappointing, and the outdated curriculum often fails to prepare students for modern industry requirements.

I am calling upon students from all MAKAUT-affiliated colleges and the main campus to raise these concerns collectively. Whether through RTIs, student representations, petitions, or peaceful protests, students deserve transparency, accountability, and a healthier academic environment.

I am not affiliated with any political party or student organization. I am simply a student who is frustrated with a system that seems more focused on imposing pressure than improving education.

If students continue to remain silent, nothing will change. The question is: how much more are we willing to accept before demanding better?

Need advice about a remote Web3 opportunity and whether it sounds legitimate.

I'm a 2nd-year B.Tech IT student. A recruiter from a blockchain/Web3 company reached out to me on LinkedIn.

Some details:

  • The company has 5k+ followers on LinkedIn.
  • They have a live product and an app on the Google Play Store.
  • They claim to have raised significant funding.
  • The JD listed multiple engineering roles (backend, frontend, QA, blockchain, etc.).
  • The compensation mentioned in the JD seemed unusually high, especially for junior candidates.

The process so far:

  • Recruiter contacted me directly.
  • I completed a technical assessment.
  • I submitted a screen recording of my work.
  • I had a technical interview with an international team.

However, the interview lasted only about 10 minutes instead of the scheduled 30 minutes because I had difficulty understanding the interviewer's accent. I felt the communication was poor from my side, although I completed the assessment.

My questions:

  1. Does this hiring process sound legitimate?
  2. Are high compensation figures in Web3 startups common, or is that a red flag?
  3. Has anyone been asked to submit a screen recording of their assessment before?
  4. Is a 10-minute interview usually a bad sign, or could the assessment still matter more?
  5. Would you follow up again or just wait for feedback?

I'd appreciate opinions from people who have worked in startups, Web3, or remote international teams.

Best time to buy iPhone 15 in India in 2026? Expected lowest price and is it worth it?

Hi everyone,

I'm planning to buy an iPhone 15 (128GB) in India during 2026 and I'm not in a hurry.

Based on previous sales and price trends:

  • When do you think will be the best time to buy it in 2026?
  • Amazon Great Indian Festival vs Flipkart Big Billion Days vs Republic Day sales?
  • What's the lowest realistic price I can expect for a brand-new unit?
  • If it drops to around ₹40k-₹45k, would buying a 3-year-old model still be justified, or would it be better to spend extra for a newer iPhone?

I'd appreciate opinions from people who bought the iPhone 15 during previous sales.

Thanks!
